Plant Quality Manager Job at Mobex Global
Quality Manager for a Tier 1 Automotive facility with roughly 170 employees. Reporting to the Site GM and a dotted line to the Quality Director, the Quality Manager plans, coordinates, and directs quality programs designed to ensure quality control and quality assurance of the production of products consistent with established standards by performing the following duties personally or through staff:
Duties/Responsibilities:
· Acts as “Voice of the Customer” in all situations to guide Mobex to comply with expectations.
· Authority and duty to stop the line when nonconforming production is identified.
· Formulates and maintains quality objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals for quality team; deploys objectives to team and performs regular review of team member’s progress and status against objectives, adjusts where and when needed.
· Ensures consistent application of internal and customer quality methods / processes / procedures / standards within perimeter.
· Interprets quality philosophy to key personnel in organization.
· Approves standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation; may assist in the definition and development of same.
· Plans and oversees the analysis, inspection, design, test, and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component.
· Performs quality engineering reviews of design documentation for compliance with stated requirements, including vendor quality manuals and company quality records.
· Ensures application of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
· Decides whether to accept a product or continue business with a vendor based on a review by the quality assurance engineer.
· Reviews all data obtained during all quality control and quality assurance activities to ensure consistency with company policies and procedures.
· Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality activities.
· Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during quality activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
· Prepares and presents technical and program information to the management team.
· Directs workers engaged in inspection and testing activities to ensure continuous control over materials, facilities, and products.
· Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality codes and standards. Plays active role on quality management teams within organization.
· Designs and implements quality training programs to key personnel in conjunction with managers.
· Ensures on-time reviews, investigations, and response to all customer complaints regarding quality.
· May audit quality control of suppliers, either at Mobex or at supplier locations; ensures findings related to supplier nonconformances are formally tracked and resolved.
· Participates in team activities as required.
· All other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

Education and Experience:
· Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, manufacturing, business administration or related field required; Master’s degree is preferred.
· A minimum of 4 years of experience in a Quality Management role.
· Must be proficient in GR&R studies, CMM, SPC, GD&T, APQP, FMEA and PPAP.
· Able to effectively apply continuous improvement principles and techniques to quality and manufacturing principles.
· Strong manufacturing background with focus on metal removing processes.
· Strong interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations. Position continually requires demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy.
· Customer focus – need to build and maintain relationships with internal and external customers.
· Practical knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and quality engineering techniques, procedures, equipment, theories, and principles.
· American Society for Quality Certificate and Green Belt Certification desired.
Physical Requirements:
· Primarily will work in an office environment.
· Required to work on the manufacturing floor exposed to moving mechanical parts, occasionally exposed to wet conditions and vibrations.
· The noise level in the environment is loud and PPE is required.
· Able to sit, stand and walk around for long periods at a time.
· The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 30 pounds.
· Occasional travel to and from supplier or customer locations.
