How you’ll make an impact:

Earwolf, the comedy podcast network that is a part of SiriusXM, is hiring an Audio Engineer in Los Angeles or New York City. In this role, you will be part of the team responsible for recording, mixing and sound designing Earwolf’s growing roster.

In addition to ensuring that the highest quality audio is captured and delivered, you’ll collaborate with hosts and producers, help to maintain a pleasant, organized and efficient production environment, and ensure that our listeners always enjoy great-sounding audio. You should have a demonstrable passion for podcasts, and be able to provide the kind of supportive environment that will enable creators to do their best work. You’re a great fit if you love a fast-paced environment, and working with both big names and rising stars.

What you’ll do:

• Record, edit & mix various Earwolf podcasts

• Responsible for the technical process of recording and mixing episodes, including sweetening/repairing audio

• Help to operate Earwolf, Stitcher & SiriusXM studios and professionally represent the department to hosts and guests

• Provide sound design, music editing, and the development of new ideas for creative use of sound

• Record and deliver advertisements with wide ranging sponsor expectations at proper loudness and timing specifications

• Adhere to the high standards of Earwolf & Stitcher’s production and operational workflow

• Provide support to the content team in audio recording and editing best practices

• Work with all of Stitcher & SiriusXM’s various teams including marketing, advertising operations and partnerships to provide audio expertise when necessary

• Provide technical guidance for remote recordings, instructing hosts, guests and producers on best practices to get high quality broadcast quality recordings outside of the studio.

• Occasional evening in-studio work

• Meet deadlines consistently

• Occasional field recording

• Contribute editorial insight

• Perform other duties as assigned

What you’ll need:

• 4+ years experience as an audio engineer required and 2-3 years experience working with podcasts or broadcasts preferred

• High level of Pro Tools experience required, as well as familiarity with Waves, iZotope and other industry-standard 3rd party plugins

• Creative experience in varied techniques of sound design, music arrangement and creative mixing

• Experience with creative editorial, cutting and arranging content with an ear for pacing

• Familiarity with generally-accepted podcast loudness standards, and ability to deliver episodes at consistent loudness levels according to in-house specifications

• Extensive experience with audio hardware, including industry standard microphones, mixers, cabling, etc.

• Experience in field and home recording is preferred

• Experience as a live sound engineer is a bonus

• Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $70,000.00 to $77,700.00 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
