The Town of Schodack is seeking candidates for the position of Police Chief. This is a provisional position pending passing the next available Civil Service test. Position involves performing as the chief administrative officer in charge of all operations of the Schodack Police Department. The Chief of Police is the chief law enforcement officer in the Town of Schodack and is responsible for enforcement of laws of the State of New York, County of Rensselaer, Town of Schodack, and its subdivisions. Candidates must have one (1) year of permanent or contingent permanent class status in the position of Deputy/Assistant Police Chief or two (2) years of permanent or contingent permanent class status in the position of Police Lieutenant; or three (3) years of permanent or contingent permanent class status in the position of Police Sergeant in a municipality under the jurisdiction of the Rensselaer County Civil Service Commission immediately preceding the date of examination.
