Position posted to create an applicant pool for future needs.

• Responsible for teaching and supervising preschool aged students during program operation.
• Ensure that all equipment is secured at the end of the program day.
• Assist with all program activities as assigned by Program Director.
• Ensure compliance to program rules and regulations.
• Maintain daily attendance records and make reports as required.
• Participate in general planning of programs and staff training as required.

• Must be a member in good standing of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden or willing to join and become a member in good standing of First Baptist Church of Glenarden.
• Must be a Christian example, as well as support the work and ministry of SMI.
  • College degree strongly preferred.
  • 90 Hours Early Childhood Development Curriculum Course preferred.
  • Nine hour communication training.
  • Experience in a childcare setting is preferred.

• Required training can be offered with a 2-year employment commitment.
• Must be able to lift and carry children and equipment, up to a minimum of 40lbs.
• May spend time sitting on the floor or child sized furniture.

• Must be sensitive to individual children’s differences and needs, and be willing to adjust the program & curriculum to meet those individual needs.
• Must be motivated to learn and grow in an educational environment; and be willing to continually increase knowledge in the field of Early Childhood Education.
• Must be able to relate with and speak to parents in a respectful and courteous manner.

• Must have reasonable organization skills.
• Must be an excellent communicator with students, peers and parents.
• Must be a team player with the willingness to fully support the lead teacher.
• Must love children and enjoy working with them.
• Must have the ability to supervise children and other team members.
• Must possess a gracious, Christ-like demeanor in demanding situations.
• Must be able to submit to authorities.
