Preschool Teacher Job at Wild Pear Preschool

Wild Pear Preschool Portland, OR 97222

We are a family child care program that centers around building strong relationships with the children and families we work with. We are driven by play and the emerging interests of children and teachers. We spend 5-10 hours days mostly outside, year round, and delight in the ever changing nature cycles around us. We currently have one house licensed for 16 children that sits on an acre of land next to a creek, and the house next door is a dedicated infant/toddler house with an after school space in the backyard for the older school age kids. This house will be licensed for 13 children. We are looking to hire one more teacher to join our team! All teachers will be fully trained in all age groups so please be prepared to hold babies, patiently engage with toddlers, run wild with the preschoolers and challenge the school agers.

Our school is run by a mother/daughter owner/operator pair and has five additional kind and creative full time teachers. We are looking for people who respect children, love the outdoors, and are committed to being curious life long learners themselves. We value diversity and believe our community benefits from the relationships we have with people of various races, religions, abilities, gender identities, ages, sexual orientations, nationality and cultures. We enroll students intentionally to create diverse cohorts and our desire is to see that diversity reflected in our staffing as well.

Wages are determined by experience and education, starting at $16-18 with a raise at both your initial 6 month review and again at your annual review. We work a 4/10 schedule for the school year that runs Sept-May. Annually, all employees receive 80 hours of paid PTO/sick time, 12 paid holidays, and 5 paid training/inservice days. We have 1.5 weeks paid time off for Winter break, and 4 days paid time off for Spring break. We are open during the summer and determine as a staff what the staff scheduling will look like for those months so that we can accommodate staff vacations and additional unpaid time off that you may want to take.

Before new teachers can begin work they must:
-Be registered in the Oregon Central Background Registry
-Have a current first aid/CPR certification

After being hired need to aquire:

-A current food handlers card
-Successfully complete Oregon’s required courses; Safe Sleep, Recognizing and Reporting Child Abuse and Neglect, and Introduction to Childcare Health and Safety courses.

We are more than happy to pay for all required trainings.

We are looking forward to meeting with applicants in a mutual zoom interview- because we want you to be sure that you want to work with us as much as we want to work with you. Please check out our website and send us a resume so we can start the process!

Thank you for your time, we look forward to hearing from you!
