Job Description
MIT Lincoln Laboratory’s internal creative team is looking for a dynamic team player who will contribute to our department’s mission of delivering high-end visual communications materials supporting the Laboratory’s technical research and operational initiatives. Working closely with art directors and other customer service staff members, the Print Production Associate will operate state-of-the-art high-speed digital printer/copy systems and perform other print production functions such as cutting, scoring, stitching, binding and assembly work necessary to produce quality print deliverables.
Primary duties include:
- Running and maintaining high-volume printer/copiers
- Performing assorted bindery functions including hole punching, stapling, cutting, glue binding, folding and hand assembly
- Assisting with large-format poster printing, mounting and installation
- Applying quality control measures by reviewing individual job tickets to ensure conformity to written and verbal instruction, checking output for accuracy, and regularly inspecting the finished product to ensure alignment with quality and consistency standards
- Placing service calls to equipment service dispatchers
- Maintaining inventory of related production supplies
- Working occasional overtime during peak production periods
Preferred experience:
- Two years’ experience in a service-driven digital production setting required
- Solid experience with Fiery Command Workstation and Konica Minolta Bizhub production equipment
- Hands-on experience with standard finishing equipment (cutters, scoring machine, stitchers, drills, binding equipment, etc.)
- Working knowledge of Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat with the ability to create, edit and preflight production files
- Experience with large format printing, laminating, and mounting on various substrates desired
- Experience with large format panel printing and wall mural installations a plus
Education:
- Graduation/certification from a two-year day technical school or equivalent training and experience required.
Other requirements:
- Ability to follow established procedures, working with a team and/or independently
- Ability to troubleshoot issues that can arise throughout the printing process
- Ability to shift priorities upon direction to accommodate last-minute changes in production schedules
- Ability to lift and/or move items up to 55 lbs or the maximum allowed by current state law with or without accommodations
- Should possess exceptional team collaboration and customer service skills
- Must possess good mechanical skills
- Must possess a willingness to update job skills as technology changes
The ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance is required.
