TouchPad Electronics is currently seeking a self-motivated and eager to learn full-time Quality Engineer in the electronics assembly industry. This candidate would need excellent organizational skills, be able to work in a team environment requiring strong communication skills and strive to better our growing company. TouchPad is an ISO registered company, and experience in following a Quality Management System is preferred. This position is focused on ensuring the company’s ISO system is maintained and updated as required, reporting directly to top management.
Job Description: Quality Engineer
Summary: Execute activities as designated by the Business Leader of Total Quality in the PCB assembly business.
Essential duties and responsibilities:
· Manage, document, and resolve Corrective Actions and Nonconformances by leading multi-disciplinary teams through the investigation, containment, and root cause analysis to ensure timely closure. Interface with customers and suppliers as needed. Analyze the data and report trends to the organization.
· Evaluate the effectiveness of actions taken related to Corrective Actions and Nonconformances, including auditing and/or monitoring completed actions to ensure the issue does not repeat.
· Communicate incidents, root cause, and associated learnings from Corrective Actions and Nonconformances to internal teams and the customer.
· Maintain the QMS including assessing compliance to processes to ensure effective implementation and depth of knowledge across the internal teams.
· Participate in developing, updating, and implementing procedures, work instructions, and forms within the QMS for new processes and process improvements.
· Ensure PPAPs are prepared as required by customers, including generating portions and/or overseeing the preparation of PPAPs. Follow up with customer to ensure satisfaction and timely approval for release of product.
· Develop comprehensive quality plans for new product introductions to ensure all required processes are executed and 100% conforming product is delivered to the customer.
· Monitor quality performance metrics including maintaining databases, preparing reports, analyzing data, identifying trends, and summarizing data. Identify and implement new metrics as appropriate.
· Coordinate resolution of quality issues with appropriate teams, including analyzing and identifying root cause.
· Lead multi-disciplinary teams to conduct effective problem solving to solve production and quality issues. Coach and train personnel in appropriate problem-solving methodologies (SPC, Cause Mapping, 5-Whys, 8-D analysis, DMAIC, etc.).
· Perform Gage R&R studies as needed.
Qualifications and skills:
· 3yrs+ experience working in a quality engineering role within a regulated industry
· BS degree in Engineering or a technical or scientific discipline
· Ability to analyze data, report results, understand technical publications and standards
· In depth knowledge of Minitab, Six Sigma, 8D problem solving methodology, root cause analysis, CAPA
· Ability to develop and promote process improvements
· Experience developing quality plans
· Ability to follow through on issues to resolution
· Excellent written and verbal communication
· Ability to use Microsoft suite products
· Exceptional quality awareness
