Job Overview
We are currently seeking a Gas Engineer – Technical Services for our gas group that will work out of our clients' office in Pittsfield, MA. The ideal candidate has a bachelor's degree Mechanical Engineering and experience with Natural Gas facilities and regulations. The successful candidate will act in a consultant role for our existing utility clients. This role will assist our clients engineering group on a team comprised of both LaBella and internal staff. On the job training will be provided by LaBella and our client.

Responsibilities - The following lists typical project responsibilities. This may vary based on the nature of a project and/or client needs:

  • Coordinate with all project stakeholders and act in the interest of our clients to support their project goals.
  • Review state and federal regulatory requirements and report on their findings and suggest improvement.
  • Developing and updating client's construction standards and operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Help monitor, track, and follow up on Action Items.
  • Review manufacturer's specifications for various materials and equipment and report findings to the engineering department.
  • Research, technical writing, and document preparation
  • Conduct field work which would include carrying up to 10 lbs. throughout the workday. Expected amount of field work would be approximately 5% of annual workload but may vary based on client needs and project assignments. Field work may consist of taking measurements with a tape measure or wheel, gathering GPS data points and other similar tasks.
  • Other Engineering related functions as needed
Qualifications

  • This is an entry level position.
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or other closely related field. Sufficient experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Presents and conducts themselves in a professional manner.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects/assignments and prioritize their individual workload.
  • Need to possess a valid driver's license with a safe driving history.
  • Excellent analytical and organizational skills.
  • Ability to carry 10 lbs. throughout a workday sometimes through difficult terrain such as forests, agriculture fields, etc.
  • Ability to pass a client background check.
