Job Summary
Reporting to the Coordinator of Accessibility Services, the proctor rotates between the Elizabethton campus and Johnson City campus, assisting at the Blountville campus when needed. The primary function is to proctor exams for students registered with Accessibility Services and mentor Accessibility students on time management and accessing campus resources. This includes ensuring testing accommodations are provided to the student (i.e. extended testing time, scribe, etc.). The proctor will maintain confidentiality of all student records and testing materials, and log interactions in the office database. The proctor participates in office duties as needed.
Job Duties
Update and maintain digital records management system
Monitor students with disabilities when utilizing assistive technology for assignments and tests
Troubleshoot technical issues in coordination with Information Technology - Client Services
Proctor testing for students with disabilities who need low-distraction or extended time testing
Serve as a reader or scribe for students with disabilities for tests or assignments Assist students as needed with accessing campus and/or community resources
Log student contacts in the Accessibility Services database
Inform Accessibility Services staff of student issues or concerns
Mentor students concerning time management and campus resources
Maintain confidentiality of student records and testing materials Assist with Student Services initiatives as needed
Complete other assignments as directed by supervision
Minimum Qualifications
Associate degree or at least sixty (60) earned credit hours at an accredited institution
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with computer-based assistive technologies
Experience working with individuals who have psychological and/or physical disabilities
Experience with ADA rules and regulations
Conversational ability or fluency in a second language
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Technology Skills: MS Office skills, Word, Excel, Outlook; videoconferencing software; digital records management systems; general operating systems and data information systems
Ability to learn and operate new technologies
Additional Notes
Some evening hours may be required
Travel required (campus sites and testing locations)
