Our Machine Room Production Assistants identify and assist with troubleshooting of technical issues. We facilitate the use of networked file servers and client specific file sharing platforms while managing tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Identify and assist with troubleshooting technical issues in order to provide corrective measures
• Understanding file encoding and appropriate use of video and audio codecs and containers (H.264 vs ProRes HQ, DNxHD 36 vs DNxHD 175, etc)
• Familiar with the use of networked file servers and shares for collaboration, as well as client specific file sharing platforms such as Aspera Faspex, Box, Dropbox, Frame.io, Signiant, Wiredrive, etc.
• Video patching & routing from edit bays to tape decks / offices / fiber lines
• Understanding of frame rate and standards conversions (ex. 29.97fps -> 23.98fps, 24fps -> 23.98fps)
• Must be able to work quickly and efficiently under tight deadlines

Qualifications

• General understanding of digitizing, especially common tape formats (HDCAM, HDCAM-SR, Digibeta)
• Undergraduate degree in Film Studies and/or equivalent program
• Proficient with Microsoft Office, specifically Word and Excel

Compensation + Benefits

Rate: $20/hr (Non-Exempt)

The actual pay rate offered will depend on a variety of factors, including applicant’s qualifications, years of relevant experience and geographic location. Total compensation package will also include other elements, including paid time off, subsidized health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and 401(k) participation plus company match.
