Job Summary: Blavity Inc. is looking for a Marketing Associate – Digital Production & Audience Development. This role is responsible for maintaining, curating, producing culturally relevant marketing content for the AfroTech brand. The associate will lead execution for all AfroTech email sends, manage and produce content for @afro.tech and @afrotech.events social media accounts, engage with our community of global followers, influencers and creators, and assist in other daily programmatic tasks for the marketing team.
The ideal candidate for this position is someone who is ready to roll their sleeves up and wear multiple marketing hats at a fast-paced media company
This position will report directly to the AD, Marketing & Audience
Responsibilities:
AfroTech.com
- Find and repost User-Generated Content to Instagram that resonates with AfroTech audience on a regular basis
- Partner with editorial team on pitching new editorial ideas and building daily newsletter
AfroTech Events
- Create marketing collateral and content for all AfroTech events and post to our social accounts.
- Assist in building and executing end-to-end marketing plans for AfroTech Events: Conference, MeetUps/Happy Hours, Executive, etc.
- Partner with creative team on the delivery of marketing assets
- Use previous event photography and video to build new and engaging social posts recapping and promoting previous and upcoming events
Production Assistance
- Partner with Content Producer on identifying social cuts of produced video content
- Partner with Editorial team on social promotion of editorial content
Daily Operations
- Engaging with Discord and AfroTech App members daily
- Assist in overall marketing strategy for the brand
- Daily engagement in social accounts: commenting, resharing, deleting spam, removing negative comments, etc.
- Add contacts to and maintain AfroTech Events/Experiential email lists with extreme attention to detail
- Draft engaging copy for newsletters, social posts, and internal communications
- Identify relevant trends and adapting them to fit brand voice and audience in order to drive engagement pre-event, during
- Regularly organize and clean social Linktree
Qualifications:
- Education: Preferred BA/BS in business, marketing, media studies, advertising, or relevant work experience
- Required Experience:
- 1-3 years of social media management, content creation, or event marketing
- Technologies:
- Fluent in Canva, MailChimp, Google Suite, Asana, and/or comparable project management suite
- Working knowledge of TikTok, Facebook/Instagram, YouTube, Linkedin, Twitter, Clubhouse and Discord
- Additional Qualifications:
- Creative mindset that understands what Black audiences consume on social media and how to create it
- Independent, entrepreneurial self-starter who is comfortable taking on a high level of responsibility
- Comfort with ambiguity and a proven love for transforming unorganized/complex data into rigorously structured, insight-oriented solutions
- High-energy, company-first, positive attitude; must be motivated to work hard in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication and analytical skills; outgoing and sociable; willing to wear multiple hats
- Naturally detail-oriented, with an obsessive need to document and communicate findings
- A healthy appreciation of GIFs and Black culture
Details:
- This is a fully remote role, occasional travel may be required.
- Candidates must be available to work in alignment with the Pacific Time Zone.
- The salary range for this role is $55,000 - $65,000.
