Production Planner Job at Lozier
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for short to mid-range planning and scheduling of designated areas to meet all demands while achieving operational objectives. Includes balancing load within capacity, managing demand changes and adjusting discrete jobs to support production demand and inventory plans to optimize manufacturing operations and maintain expected levels of customer service. Supervises affiliated line schedulers.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Daily review of manufacturing’s execution to plan, measuring variances and replanning if necessary.
- Balance demand and capacity. Collaborate with Area Manager’s to optimize labor and equipment utilization and maintain capacity to match.
- Plan production for assigned areas within company operational objectives for capacity, overtime, service and quality.
- Identify opportunities for internal buffer stock or DC finished goods inventory. Collaborate with appropriate parties to reduce cost, level load or provide staffing flexibility.
- Coordinates and distributes production performance results reports. Includes Actual Production vs. Planned Production, Actual Demonstrated Capacity vs. Stated Capacity, On-Time Shipments and others upon request.
- Adjust system capacities to reflect agreed upon capacities.
- Routinely reviews and initiates change to improve critical planning data. Includes Resource Capacity, Bills of Material, Routes, Order Policy and Leadtime.
- Successful daily management and review of Line Schedulers’ work and results.
- Demonstrate excellent attendance and timeliness in reporting to work, meetings and completing assignments.
- Ability to work and interact well with others.
OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS
- Ensure ongoing communication with affiliated Line Schedulers, Production Supervisors and Area Managers.
- Counsel direct reports on self development plans.
- Assist in implementation and training.
- Work with Process Improvement Teams to successfully identify and meet operational improvement results.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelors’ Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent experience in a related field
Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in scheduling or planning in a production / manufacturing environment. Minimum of 5 years if non-degreed.
Required Skills:
- Intermediate personal computer skills with Word, Excel, Windows.
- Demonstrated functional knowledge of ERP, MRP, and Oracle systems.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Good personal organization and clerical skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong math skills with attention to calculating areas, performing conversions and using units of measure.
- Print reading skills.
- Customer service oriented.
SPECIAL DEMANDS
- Ability to work in a manufacturing setting, upstairs, downstairs, factory floor.
