The Port Edwards Plant was constructed in 1967- For over 50 years, the Port Edwards, Wisconsin Plant has been safely producing Chlor-alkali and other products that are vital for the pulp & paper, food processing, agriculture, electronic, de-icing, petroleum, and water treatment industries.

Job Summary:
Our Port Edwards Plant is looking for a hardworking, safety-minded, Process Operator to join its Production Team! Under supervision of the Chief Operator, the Auxiliary Operator operates and controls equipment in the plant and facility brine systems (NaCl and KCl). The brine systems are integrated with a chlorine electrolyzer operation so portions of the brine systems are OSHA PSM covered processes. Production Operators are responsible for monitoring and adjusting equipment operation to produce high-quality products.
These positions are full time, 12-hour shift work and every other weekend off. All operators are expected to work overtime when required.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
Operates the following process systems and equipment including but not limited to:
  • Sodium chloride brine treatment system, Potassium chloride brine treatment system, brine dechlorination process using sulfur dioxide, brine waste treatment process, various facility wastewater treatment processes, bromine removal system, sodium hypochlorite treatment system, brine ion exchange systems, river water pumps and strainers, river water dechlorination system, chlorate destruction systems, and brine sulfate removal systems.
  • Operates and monitors equipment in wastewater and brine muds treatment systems to meet established requirements and parameters of EPA and WDNR.
  • Operates and monitors plant utilities supply system, including steam and water systems and environmental processes and equipment.
  • For all equipment and processes operated, takes corrective action when necessary to maintain operation within acceptable operating limits, as described in the operations procedures and the process controls manual.
  • Regulates, observes, and records voltages, flows, temperatures, levels, pressures, etc. pertaining to operations.
  • Prepares equipment for inspection or repairs by isolating, draining, degassing, and testing equipment for chemicals or flammable gasses and preparing work permits and lockouts before releasing for maintenance.
  • Detects, analyzes, and takes necessary corrective measure to correct process variation of equipment or instrument malfunction.
  • Operates mobile equipment including front end loader, fork truck, and railcar mover
  • Unloads railcars of salt and monitors salt handling equipment
  • Performs various start-up and shutdown assignments.
  • Tests alarms, automatic and manual controls for proper operation.
  • Makes minor repairs to auxiliary equipment, such as: changing fittings, hoses, repairing leaks, tightening packings, etc.
  • Performs analytical tests, as required for control purposes. Records data within both paper and electronic (LIMS) records as required.
  • Maintains plant housekeeping and safety standards
  • Participates in inspection and observation programs as indicated by management, site safety committee, and regulations.

Key Attributes:
  • Education: High School degree or above (Technical College)
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing in industries such as chemical, pulp and paper, and food processing
  • Industrial experience with brine operation, rail cars, pumps, valves, electrolyzers, heat rectifiers, confined space
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical equipment
  • Experience with Delta V DCS to monitor process and to make adjustments is an asset
  • Experience with lab analysis such as water treatment
  • Prior PSM covered process experience a is an asset
  • Creative and innovative thinker
  • Someone who is safety-oriented
  • Basic computer skills
  • Teamwork and interpersonal skills to work in a self-directed work group
  • Work experience to show the ability to be a reliable team member
  • Ability to work outdoors, stand for shift, lift & climb stairs
  • Must pass pre-hire physical & drug screen
Annual Salary: $ 52,621+ overtime pay
