An EIT at this level will work under the direct supervision of a licensed Professional Engineer.

A PE at this level will perform assignments following instruction from Project Managers and may involve mentoring EITs pursing licensure.

As a member of EST’s interactive team of professionals, you will exercise engineering judgement to develop civil engineering designs, technical reports, and CADD documents for transportation projects including, but not limited to, roadway, drainage, structural, environmental, 3D modeling, cross section, and construction components. EST also offers wide-ranging opportunities to rotate through design, construction, municipal, and geotechnical/materials disciplines to gain well rounded engineering experience.

Tasks May Include:

• Exercise logic, reasoning, and judgment to solve engineering problems using engineering principles, experience, and design guidelines/standards,
• Perform mid-level to highly advanced engineering design tasks such as gathering data, performing calculations, interpreting results, preparing reports, and presenting technical information,
• Prepare Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) of civil engineering designs using Bentley MicroStation OpenRoads Designer (ORD) and OpenBridge Designer (OBD) software,
• Provide engineering oversight of work performed by technical staff,
• Participate in team, client, and public meetings,
• Rotate to gain experience in other engineering disciplines, and
• Perform other job duties as assigned.

Required Minimum Qualifications for Engineer-in-Training:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or other related engineering field.
• Texas Certification of Engineer-in-Training (EIT).

Additional Required Minimum Qualifications for Professional Engineers:

• Licensure/Registration as a Professional Engineer with the State of Texas (or ability to do so within six months of hire).

• The ability to communicate verbally and in writing with internal and external team members.
• The ability to apply information and ideas presented verbally and in writing.
• The ability to enter, transcribe, record, store, and maintain data accurately.
• The ability to manage multiple priorities to meet deadlines.

Preferred Experience/Skills:

• Experience: Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) experience
• Software: Bentley MicroStation OpenRoads Designer and ProjectWise Explorer

Other Conditions:

• Required to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
• Required to maintain project experience records to obtain DOT pre-certifications and professional licenses.
• May be required to work weekends and holidays.
• May be required to work hours other than 8 am to 5 pm.
