Merrick & Company is seeking a high energy, dynamic, and experienced Professional Land Surveyor. The position can be located in our growing Duluth, GA office. Local candidates only.
Job Description
Merrick & Company is seeking career minded individuals for challenging projects including all types of Land Surveying related work. Projects include Boundary, ALTAs, Easement/ Right-of Way Surveys, Topographic surveys; GPS control surveys, design surveys and construction layout. Would work under supervision of Survey Manager.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate multiple 1 to 2 men field crew(s) on day to day operations
- Coordinate multiple office survey cad technicians
- Make Field trips to visit project sites before and during work activities
- Attend onsite meetings as needed with Merrick personnel and clients
- Perform office work as directed including, assisting survey manager with estimates and proposals, prepare field packets, field data reduction, compile deliverables in CAD, review field and office deliverables.
Required Experience
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with operating survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, Scan Station, sUAS). Experience with Trimble equipment is strongly preferred.
- Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) / Registered Land Surveyor (RLS) required. Georgia PLS license is preferred. Having multiple state licenses is a plus. Will consider a surveyor who has a LIST and can obtain a Professional Land Surveyor license in Georgia within six (6) months.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience with Cad and survey data reduction software. Experience with Civil3D, Carlson Survey, and Trimble Business center is a plus.
- Experience with subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) is a plus
- Degree Requirements: Associates or Technical two year degree preferred.
- Must have experience with Easement/ Right-of Way Surveys, Plats, ALTAs, boundaries, property descriptions and topos.
- Experience with linear projects is preferred (Transmission Line, Pipeline, Road or Rail).
- Ability to do survey related research (online and on site as needed to obtain deeds, plats, and maps) is desired.
- A valid driver’s license, a clean MVR record and evidence of insurability is required.

Physical Requirements
- Requires the ability to sit for extended periods at a computer workstation.
- Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.

Work Environment
- The worker is subject to variable climate and environmental conditions including but not limited to extreme cold and heat.
- Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments
- Comfortable with working in steep terrain and heights.
- Ability to carry survey instruments and equipment.
- Ability to climb ladders.
- Lift 50 pounds.
