General Position Summary

Performs professional correctional and program casework; supervising and managing activities of Justice Involved Individuals (JII) for corrections department.

Must pass a non-DOT drug screen test and a Law Enforcement Criminal Background check, no felony convictions in order to be eligible for employment.

Essential Functions

The following may not be all inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports client opportunities to work on behalf of their own social rehabilitation.
  • Conducts personal interviews with clients to ascertain needs.
  • Maintains chronological case history through DOC 400 and OMS.
  • Helps with Case management and reports out to Parole/Probation Officers daily.
  • Conducts screenings, risk and needs assessment, motivational assessments.
  • Collect urine and breath samples.
  • Confers with supervisor, other agencies, schools, churches, public health agencies, law enforcement agencies, business and others relative to individual cases in outlining treatment and care programs.
  • Maintain case/program records; prepare reports related to client compliance under guidance and direction from supervisor.
  • Oversee data and statistical information regarding program outcomes and compliance.
  • Provide individual and group educational, cognitive, and life skills training for clients to ensure maximum results from programs.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, peers, and members of the public.
  • Perform Case Management duties for clients in all areas of programming the client is engaged in.
  • Attend staff meetings, professional conferences and training programs.
  • Transport clients to and from appointments, meetings and other areas as needed.
  • Perform related duties as assigned such as case management for transitional housing clients. Assess need and barriers and develop plans to address such issues with Supervisor.
  • Aid the entire agency to fulfill needs as they are assessed by Supervisor.

Education, Certification, & Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Oregon Driver's License
  • LEDS Certification (must be able to obtain within one year of employment)
  • Ability to obtain Notary within six months of hire date.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Language Skills

Ability to read and write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to apply concepts of basic math.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet software; Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word and Excel Word Processing software.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand and climb or balance. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Work Schedule & Salary

The normal work schedule is 8 hours per day 5 days per week; exact schedules are assigned by management. It is the attendance standard of the employer that all employees be present and on time each shift they are scheduled to work. Full or partial absence during any scheduled shift, arriving late, or leaving early, for whatever reason, may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. Time off may be approved if allowed by applicable policies covering illness, injury, or other personal emergency.

This is an hourly, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $19.36 - $20.94 per hour, depending on experience.
