Position Overview:

The Program Aide is a part of a team that is responsible for the daily care of participants in the adult daycare program/adult day health care. Program specializes in Alzheimer's and related dementia care.

Main Responsibilities:

• Ensure the safety and security of the participants, and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Assists with all aspects of recreational activities, including implementation, facilitation, and supervision, and set up/clean up.
• Assists participants with Activities of Daily Living, including, but not limited to, toileting, personal care and hygiene, dressing, transferring, and eating.
• Accurate and complete record keeping (restroom log/personal care flow sheets).
• Actively participate in the multi-disciplinary team, and advocate on behalf of participants and their families.
• Establish and maintain positive, professional relationships with participants, caregivers and staff.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Knowledge and aptitude in working with persons suffering from Alzheimer’s Disease and other related disorders. Obtain and keep current CPR and First Aid certificates. A Program Aide must be responsible and work well with other staff and site participants. Experience working in aging field is highly preferred. Sensitivity toward impaired older adults and supporting family caregivers. Ability to work with volunteers; interns and nursing students. Ability to work closely with others and take initiative/responsibility. Demonstrate a warm and caring attitude towards others. Must show evidence of fully vaccinated status including booster vaccination.

A criminal record will not constitute an automatic bar to employment. Factors such as age and time of the offense, seriousness and nature of the violation, and rehabilitation will be taken into account. * Applicants will have the opportunity to address any “negative” information found. *(Minor traffic infractions and convictions for which the record has been sealed or expunged, any conviction for which probation has been successfully completed or otherwise discharged and the case has been judicially dismissed, referrals to and participation in any pretrial or post trial diversion programs, and marijuana-related offenses that occurred over two years ago will not be included in decision making).

Working conditions: Working conditions are normal for an Adult daycare environment. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds and be able to help clients with daily activities such as using the restroom. Must be ok with cleaning up after clients.

Pay: $16.04 - $17.00 per hour
