JOB SUMMARY:

The Program Coordinator will work collaboratively within the programs team to provide trauma-informed care to youth and young adults in the community who are at-risk, vulnerable, or victims of CSEC (commercial sexual exploitation of children). The Program Coordinator will be an active member of all community-based programs. This position will focus primarily on group work and support other programs, as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Plans, coordinates, and implements CSEC programs to youth, young adults, and their support systems in individual and group settings. Coordinates activities and functions to ensure that goals and objectives specified for the programs are achieved in accordance with priorities, budgetary limitations, time limitations, and policies set forth by Hoʻōla Nā Pua (HNP).

Groupwork - Plans, coordinates, and implements group work with partnering organizations. Facilitates and co-facilitates groups with youth from diverse backgrounds (including, but not limited to, those who have been, or are at-risk of being, trafficked and/or exploited, physically/emotionally abused, homeless, or neglected). Delivers age-appropriate curriculum to groups of up to 20 participants. Coordinate and collaborate with agencies and community partners. Inputs written documentation into the group-specific database.

Work with individuals – Plans and implements CSEC-specific mentorship program. Conducts individual outings that create a safe environment for building resiliency. Communicates through phone, email, and/or text messaging with youth. Advocates on behalf of youth. Connects youth with resources, if needed. Inputs written documentation to database. Develops and evaluates mentorship treatment plans and activities. Helps to recruit new mentors through community engagements, recruitment events, and/or speaking opportunities. Observes new mentorship matches during on-boarding process.

Evaluation & metrics – Implements data-gathering methods to collect and compile quantitative and qualitative data. Inputs data and metrics monthly, quarterly, and/or annually. Works with team to identify data trends.

Community events - Represents Ho`ola Na Pua at public and private events. Sets up and breaks down exhibit tables. Sells merchandise using a mobile app.

Program Coordinator may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the direct service programs.

Other duties may include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Supervises, directs, and monitors work activities of Lead Mentors, and mentors.
  • Assists manager(s) in the development and revisions of the direct services programs.
  • Coordinates with agencies to offer training and receive referrals.
  • Monitors program expenditures, ensuring accurate budget allocations.
  • Coordinates activities of each program with interrelated activities of the agency to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications.
  • Works in conjunction with managers in preparing periodic reports, financial statements and records on program activities, progress, status or other special reports for management or outside agencies.
  • Evaluates program effectiveness to develop improved methods; devises evaluation methodology and implements; analyzes results and recommends or takes appropriate action.
  • Reviews applications or other program documents independently or with manager to determine acceptance or make decisions pertaining to the program.
  • Recruits program participants, members, and volunteers, utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures or presentations at meetings.
  • Assists manager(s) in compiling and writing communications and promotional literature for distribution such as newsletters, brochures or flyers; coordinates process from development through delivery to the marketing department.
  • May participate in grant research and/or writing process.
  • Assists manager(s) in development, supervision, and facilitation of facility group activities, workshops, meetings, trainings or conferences; communicates appropriate needs to coordinate logistics, scheduling, and participant communications.
  • Interacts and maintains liaison with staff, volunteers, mentees, and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives.
  • Takes on-call shifts as needed to provide crisis support to clients and potential clients.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as sociology, psychology, or social work; AND, 2 years of progressively responsible administrative/coordinator program experience; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved. Professional experience working with the CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) population is highly desired. Case management experience preferred.

COMMUNICATION DEMANDS:

The position requires written and verbal communication with co-workers, volunteers, clients, vendors, funders and regulatory agencies; requires written communication to and from co-workers, clients, vendors, funders and regulatory agencies talking on the telephones; requires responding to written or verbal requests of co-workers, clients, vendors and regulatory agencies; requires providing training/giving verbal and written instructions; requires receiving verbal and written instructions; requires writing/composing written language; requires reading; requires visiting/working at other work-sites; Ability to communicate via the latest technologies required for the position.

EQUIPMENT NEEDS:

Operates basic office equipment including and not limited to the use of: desktop computer, copier, fax machine, printer, telephone system, and calculator.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Most work will be indoors and occasionally outdoors. Attendance at trainings with travel within the Hawaiian Islands and the continental United States may be required.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Able to meet basic standards of physical, mental health, and communication demands specified by State and/or professional accreditation standards applicable to this agency. Initial/Annual criminal background check, pre-employment, annual physical examination, CPR/first aid, TB test, and driver abstract compliance with agency policy are required.
