UAU has an exciting and rewarding career opportunity for a Program Director. The Prgram Director will need to posses familiarity with social services and a variety of available community resources. In addition to providing an appropriately safe, caring, structured, and enriching environment for children. The Program Director will have a passion for developing and empowering youth and communities through comprehensive programming and strong leadership.The Program Director must have the ability to develop and maintain relationships with staff members, participants, parents and the school administration whereas the job is located.

As well as the ability to develop and maintain relationships with participants, parents and the community and the ability to work flexible hours that include some evenings and weekends. EOE

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND JOB DUTIES:

  • Plan the delivery of the overall program and its activities by the mission and goals of the organization.
  • Oversee program staff, program operations, services, and the implementation of programs and/or other processes (e.g. site rules, discipline, site schedule, space requirements, etc.) to provide services within established time frames and in compliance with related requirements set forth by the NYC Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD).
  • Participate in organizing meetings, workshops, and seminars, (staff training, parent meetings, etc.) to identify issues, gain knowledge, provide information, and/or support site staff.
  • Develop new initiatives to support the strategic direction of the organization.
  • Develop and implement short and long-term goals and objectives to achieve the successful outcome of the program.
  • Monitor an annual budget and operation plan to support the program.
  • Develop a program evaluation framework to assess the strengths of the program and identify areas for improvement.
  • Ensure that the program activities operate within the policies and procedures of the organization and funders.
  • Ensure that the program activities comply with all relevant legislation and professional standards.
  • Develop forms and records to document program activities.
  • Oversee the collection and maintenance of records on the clients of the program for statistical purposes according to the confidentiality/privacy policy of the organization.
  • Ensure that personnel files for the program are properly maintained and kept confidential.
  • Establish and implement a performance management process for all program staff.
  • Create and oversee staff schedules, assignments, and timesheets.
  • Develop collaborative relations with the school staff, administration, and community members.
  • Develop and maintain open communication with parents, school administration, and the organization.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development, Elementary Education, Physical Education, Recreation, or a related field is MUST candidates that do not have the education requirements will not be considered.
  • 2+ years of direct experience working with children less than 13 years of age.
  • 2+ years in a supervisory capacity in a childcare program or related field of work.
  • Obtain and maintain all security clearance requirements throughout employment.
  • Must commit to working from a strength-based perspective.
  • Must be culturally competent - the ability to understand, be sensitive to the needs of, communicate with, and effectively interact with people across cultures.

  • The incumbent will be scheduled based on operational needs.
  • Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.
  • The position is in a well-lighted office environment.
  • Involves sitting approximately 75-85 percent of the day, walking or standing the remainder.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for at least 50% of the time.
  • This may include working for prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • The ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • The ability to observe details at close range (within a few feet or more of the observer).
  • Full COVID-19 vaccination is required.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,500.00 - $62,000.00 per year
