Position Overview:
The Program Director will assist the project team with oversight related to architecture, cultural, museum curation and provide suggestions, improvements, comments and more based on industry leading best practices. The position requires business management acumen and must demonstrate strong leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as strong communication and client service skills.
Job Description:
Duties and Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction Services
  • Coordinate with state and municipal agencies, permitting agencies, and funding authorities at both the department head and execution team levels.
  • Meet with community leaders, constituents, citizens, and others to understand the needs of the community with respect to the Project as needed.
  • Survey, benchmark, analyze, and otherwise use Consultant trade practices to provide information to Owner on trends, approaches, talking points, feedback, community needs, community requests, and all other community outreach related functions to guide the Owner on how the Project can best meet the communities’ needs.
Designer Selection Process
  • Review RFQ responses and offer critique / scoring on each.
  • Participate in calls / virtual meetings with client to review and select designers based on RFQ.
  • Assist with drafting of RFP.
  • Review RFP responses, offer critique and scoring.
  • Participate in calls / meetings with client to evaluate RFP Reponses.
  • Participate in interviews with shortlisted firms.
  • Visit projects designed by shortlisted firms if client requests.
  • Participate in calls / meetings with client to select design firm.
  • Assist with technical issues associated with Contract with design firm.
  • Assist team with resolution of design issues.
  • Visit site quarterly (if required) to review work and offer critique and suggestions.
  • Assist project team with presentations to Board of Directors.
Programming / Conceptual / Schematic Design
  • Attend (virtual or in person as required by client) regular design progress meetings and offer comments / suggestions.
  • Offer suggestions to improve operations and maintenance of facility.
  • Review deliverables and provide comments.
  • Assist project team with presentations to Board of Directors.
Design Development and Construction documents
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings and offer comments / suggestions.
  • Review Design deliverables.
  • Assist with constructability reviews.
  • Assist project team with presentations to Board of Directors.
  • Review commissioning plan.
Construction
  • Assist team with resolution of design issues.
  • Visit site quarterly to review work in process and offer critique and suggestions.
  • Assist project team with presentations to Board of Directors.
  • Participate in a punch-list walkthrough.
Has advanced knowledge and ability to coach/guide others in:
  • Client Delight: Builds relationships with individuals within client organizations to coordinate work and make decisions at the appropriate level for the short-term project and long-term partnership.
  • Risk and Opportunity Management: Identifies potential risks related to operations, contracts, or project execution. Develops mitigation plans and strategies to control the impact of negative situations or to maximize opportunities throughout the life cycle of a project.
  • Building and Construction Knowledge: Applies building and construction knowledge, including history, customers, competitive environment, and materials and methods to build quality projects safely.
  • Commercial Management: Negotiates and manages development and execution of the client's prime contract as well as subcontracts and vendor agreements. Develops, monitors, tracks, and negotiates project costs to ensure projects are successful and profitable. Ensures the financial interests of the company are protected while maintaining positive client relationships.
Has demonstrated proficiency in:
  • Business Development - Operations: Analyzes client needs and applies market knowledge to determine business growth opportunities. Develops and oversees the implementation of strategies and action plans to target and pursue additional business with existing clients and new business opportunities.
  • Design Management - Building: Manages design process and relationships between design and construction to ensure the designer delivers quality, budget conscious, and complete documents on schedule.
  • Forecasting: Creates and validates financial forecasts of costs for upcoming activities and projects.
  • Preconstruction Planning - Project Management Building: Partners with preconstruction group to plan the project for success (e.g., procurement, logistics planning, scope reviews, budgeting and costing).
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree – or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience.
  • Requires practical knowledge in leading and managing the execution of processes, projects, and tactics within one project or job area.
  • Typically has advanced knowledge and skills within a specific technical or professional discipline with understanding of the impact of work on other areas of the organization.
