The shelter manager is integral to the success of our organization! This position works closely with our case management team, providing leadership and managerial oversight to shelter operations. The shelter manager provides daily operational oversight, as well as contributing to programming, reporting, and implementation of policies. This position will interface with our program guests, staff and volunteers, and outside agencies as needed. Our ideal candidate will relish that no two days are the same, and your role will change and grow as we do (and are!).
Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide daily operational on-site oversight to all shelter operations.
- Manage shelter openings and make assignments to caseloads in collaboration with program manager maintaining an equitable case load balance. Including management of external and internal shelter slots in conjunction with HMIS referrals and FPTV waitlist.
- Contribute to updates of guest service programming and protocols such as guest policies, assessment guides, intake procedures, and exit standards.
- Provide onsite assistance and facilitation of shelter entries and exits as needed.
- Responsible for implementation of FPTV policies and procedures
- Responsible for communicating expectations of equity, cultural sensitivity, and accessibility for staff and guests.
- Respond to emergency situations as backup to case management staff.
- Assist with weekly group meetings to gauge case progression, problem resolution, and staff cohesiveness.
- Assist with feedback and input for the volunteer coordinator with the food and resource delivery system.
- Develop and maintain collaborative community partnerships for better service delivery.
- Assist with the development, maintenance and tracking of various grants related to shelter operations.
- Manage the FPTV and community connect relationship ensuring all referrals are assigned accurately and with case management services.
- Lead all resolutions related to referral errors with the community connect system.
Education and Experience Desired
- Bachelor’s level degree in related area, such as social work, psychology, or sociology and 5 years work experience. Master’s degree preferred. Additional experience in lieu of degree accepted.
- Experience working with homeless population highly desirable.
- Peer Support Specialist, Peer Wellness Specialist, Qualified Mental Health Associate, or other training highly desired
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
