Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking Sr. Program Support Technicians for part time positions with our Data Management Services administration. These are hourly/wage positions limited to 29 hours per week and do not offer state benefits.

The incumbent in this position will receive title applications, driver license applications and other supporting documentation from the DMV Customer Service Centers, DMV work centers, and dealers statewide; also receive/review various driver reports from numerous areas of the agency. They will be responsible for reviewing and ensuring all appropriate documents received are ready for processing, scan various document sizes and perform quality control edits as necessary, operate scanning equipment and performs operator maintenance on the equipment.

Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for maintaining work in sequence, assuring that each document has been scanned. This is a high-volume DMV unit that responds to a variety of requests from internal and external customers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Keyboard and computer skills with experience related to personal computers, utilizing the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of business English, mathematics and office operating practices, including filing systems and office equipment.
  • Lift 25-50 lbs. boxes to retrieve work to meet daily goals set.
  • Experience in multi-tasking daily.
  • Must have attention to detail, accuracy, and complete assignments in an efficient manner.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of or experience related to mainframe computers and database, Internet, and other associated equipment.
  • Self-motivator with experience performing detailed work independently using prescribed procedures.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Self-starter and catch on quickly with minimal training.
  • Dependable, team player with a great attendance record.
  • Experience working in a team or group environment.

These are hourly/wage positions limited to 29 hours per week / 1500 hours per year during the 12-month period of May 1 – April 30. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. This wage position offers no state benefits.
