Project Construction Supervisor
Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Project Construction Supervisor in the System Planning and Projects Division. We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated level professional, responsible for leading and providing direct supervision to a staff of field project resources focused on the Construction phase of capital infrastructure projects. Projects include linear and vertical construction of Electric, Gas, Water, and Wastewater infrastructure ranging from small to large multi-million-dollar projects and programs.
Key Areas of Focus:
Developing and implementing consistent project construction management and inspection practices, processes, methodologies, and metrics in support of innovating our business processes and tools used to deliver projects, programs, and portfolios of work
Collaborating with Colorado Springs Utilities project supervisors, managers, engineers, operations, and maintenance teams along with contracted engineering, construction, and inspection resources to deliver linear and vertical infrastructure projects in Electric, Gas, Water and Wastewater service lines
Providing leadership, functional expertise, and work direction to staff
Developing detailed work plans, schedules, cost estimates, resource plans, and status reports, conduct risk analysis, and monitor the progress of plans against milestones and budgets
Providing technical and analytical guidance to project teams and ensuring adherence to quality standards and review of project/program deliverables
Leading a team in providing services during the planning and design phases including activities such as value engineering and constructability reviews
Leading a team in performing field services to ensure the safe completion of assigned Construction phase deliverables within budget, to schedule, and meeting quality standards
Supervising a staff of construction professionals, building, and maintaining construction classification series with human resources, making hiring and pay decisions, assigning work, monitors work, and managing performance
Who you are…
Resilient, self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and capacity to build solid relationships with direct reports, peers, utility operations, maintenance, engineers, construction trade workers, management, and executive leadership
Skilled in: Linear and vertical construction best practices, means, and methods to construct and deliver infrastructure construction projects, efficiently sequencing work and managing construction schedules, managing construction costs, and quality, and maintaining accurate project site records that are documented daily
Understanding of procurement contracting strategies, processes, engineering and construction contracts, and change management
Highly qualified candidates will come with a Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Project Management, Business, Management, Engineering, Cost Management, or a closely related field; or 10+ years of equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities for this role
Professional Project Manager (PMP) and/or Certified Construction Manager (CCM) are preferred
