Position Summary:
The Project Engineer works closely with the Project Manager to plan and coordinate activities of designated construction projects to ensure the goals and objectives are accomplished within a prescribed time frame. Ensures work is completed successfully per the specifications and plans.
Essential Functions:
- Assist project manager in reviewing proposals and plans to determine time frames, funding limitations, procedures for project completion, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various
- Works closely with Pre-Construction department in setting up the
- Prepares job cost breakdown sheets and schedule of
- Attends pre-construction meetings and distributes paperwork to appropriate
- Attends turnover
- Consults with project manager to devise project work plans, duties, responsibilities, and the overall scope of
- Aids in the coordination and monitoring of activities being completed by project teams to ensure the overall quality of
- Reviews status reports from project teams and modifies schedules and budgets when required.
- Prepares project reports for
- Prepares submittals, submittal status, release and
- Works with the PM to review labor reports and update monthly
- Monitors and reviews equipment and tools on
- May attend monthly project reviews with the appropriate personnel to ensure proper adjustments are being made to the WIPs and work is being completed
- Works closely with
- Attends close out meetings with the appropriate personnel at the conclusion of assigned projects.
- Assists project teams and other Project Managers with problem
- Prepares and submits material, tool, equipment requisitions to proper
- Attends project field
- Inspects all project work sites to ensure safety and
- Works with project manager to formulate change orders and extra work orders when needed.
- Follow up on change order
- Coordinates and monitors all changes pertaining to the scope of
- Prepares and files all purchase
- Aid in securing all permits, fees, licenses,
- Helps to coordinate the planning of all fabrications needed for construction
- Ensures excellent communication between all departments throughout the Tomko facilities.
- Promotes excellent morale throughout all departments and
- Assists with enforcing all Tomko rules and procedures such as accounting, administrative, safety,
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as
Qualifications:
- This position requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or closely related field
- Organizational skills in order to coordinate tasks pertaining to construction
- Ability to oversee projects and
- Sufficient knowledge of Microsoft Word and
- Sufficient knowledge of mathematics including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and
- Ability to compute and interpret charts and
- Ability to schedule and prioritize all work
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of diverse
- Ability to enforce and abide by all Tomko rules and
- Excellent Knowledge of construction plans and
Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has no direct supervisory responsibility, but works closely with Project Coordinators and may assign tasks as necessary.
Work Environment:
Pleasant and safe working atmosphere and conditions, which at times, may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises. The majority of work is performed in a standard office environment.
Physical Effort:
Light physical effort, requires handling of average-weight objects up to 15 pounds and some standing and walking.
Expected Hours of Work:
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
