Assist individuals with disabilities and other barriers to improve job-readiness skills and obtain and maintain competitive employment.
Essential Job Functions
- Creates, builds, and maintains partner relationships with businesses and employers in order to build out the Achieve More & Prosper (AMP) program working with youth and young adults 18-25.
- Works in partnership with businesses and employers to create worksite agreements that would establish opportunities for AMP participants such as job shadowing, on-the-job training, pre-apprenticeships, apprenticeships, and internships leading towards full time employment.
- Educates AMP participants in career development topics which includes but is not limited to workplace etiquette, conflict resolution, resume development, and interviewing skills development.
- Use and model the language businesses, employers, and industries speak, and serve as a communication link between businesses and their needs and the workforce development system and its services. Identify workforce solutions from a business perspective.
- Recruit employers of all sizes, build long-term relationships, and maintain contact with them to meet emerging and changing needs.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the connection between workforce development and economic development (retaining businesses, growing businesses, and attracting businesses) – and how workforce development can support these functions.
- Identify and understand the training needs of both the employer and the job seeker, including those for initial positions and those for career ladder opportunities. Understands the skills of the area’s labor pool and knows whether the employer will be able to find the skilled workers it needs. Is able to manage employer training and placements, and conduct client screening and referrals.
- Education and/or relevant certifications in business, social work, human services, public administration, human resources, communications, or related field; or six years comparable work experience.
- Four years’ experience in Workforce Development Outplacement, Recruitment, or Vocational Counseling.
- Must have valid OH driver’s license and personal auto insurance.
- Values the development of professional networks.Knowledge of business-to-business relationship building and sales, marketing, and business principals.
- Value and demonstrate public relations skills and marketing skills. Leverage resources from both internal and external customers.
- Communicate with internal and external customers. Ask questions for clarification. Share information in a timely manner. Use communication skills and teamwork to maximize opportunities.
- Understand the basic principles of teamwork and actively participates in team activities
- Ability to work independently, effectively organize and prioritize work, concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously and make responsible decisions.
- Ability to use good judgment and think quickly and rationally in difficult or stressful situations.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic office equipment/machines.
- General office conditions.Exposed to moderate noise levels.
- Varied off-site employment or internship setting with a wide-range of environmental or atmospheric conditions.
- Light sedentary office work, such as typing, speaking on the phone, and using a computer to enter data.
- Must be able to sit, stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to have repetitive wrist, hand and/or finger movement to type and work on computer.
- Must have finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination to work on computer, telephone, and related office equipment.
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
- Be able to travel, as needed.
- Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
