Project Manager

Are you a strong operational leader with experience managing projects in the logging/clearing industry? If so, consider joining our team as a Project Manager for our Alabama operations. Applicants that live in the Monroe area are highly preferred as individual will need to live in the state.

If you are selected for this role, you will manage all aspects of assigned projects from inception, the bidding process, to creating the project plan, to executing the plan, to maintaining job-costing and production of the project during execution, to demobilization, and any follow-up work requested by the Client. This includes managing and directing all manpower assigned to their projects including Woodson Incorporated full time and temporary personnel as well as third-party vendors in a safe and productive manner. To be successful, a Woodson Project Manager must be able to manage multiple and possibly conflicting priorities. This requires the ability to proficiently manage a portfolio of multi-disciplined personnel, equipment, project scope, customer requests, and regulations as required for project completion.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • To comply and ensure compliance with all Woodson Incorporated Safety Procedures, Company Policies, Practices and Procedures as well as Local, State and Federal Regulations by the employees and vendors under their supervision
  • Develop and Manage the project plans including the work schedule, goals and tasks through the Plan, Brief, Execute and Debrief work management cycle
  • Coordinate the development of their Project plans and objectives with the VP Operations
  • Ensure the development of Daily, Weekly and Site level work plans and objectives with the Site Superintendents
  • Coordinate with the Site Superintendents the deployment of personnel and equipment to achieve the daily, weekly and project level plans and objectives
  • Manage, track, and report production including job costing throughout the project
  • Ensure the Site Superintendents’ management of employee performance and compliance issues; engaging management and the human resource department as required per company practices
  • Ensure completion of all administrative requirements including but not limited to daily, weekly, monthly, project level reports and data entry with the Site Superintendents
  • Efficiently direct the management and maintenance of Woodson Incorporated tools and equipment including but not limited to basic machine maintenance, scheduled service, and repairs.
  • Ensure the Site Superintendents have completed all on-site communications including but not limited to daily plan briefings and debriefings, JSA’s, and tailboards
  • Respond to Customer and Public requests as necessary to complete the project
  • Install SWAPP plans and see them through until completion.
  • Train on-site personnel on proper operation and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Maintain minimum stocking level of supplies and tools for equipment repair and crew safety
  • Report and document all safety violations, incidents, near misses, and lessons learned to the Vice President of Operations and the Safety Department immediately or escalates as necessary
  • Provide VP Operations and/or the Safety Manager feedback on plans, performance, equipment or work practices that may improve production and/or safety of the project
  • Coach subordinates
  • Identify business opportunities
Required Qualifications:
  • Outstanding communication, conflict management, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be available 24/7 to respond to customers’ emergency situations
  • Ability to work long hours in a high stress environment, including work outside of normal business hours
  • Ability to use email, Microsoft Word, Project Manager, and Excel; Ability to access and input required report data; Ability to perform basic analytics of data related to projects specifically job costing
  • Previous supervisory experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three or more years operating equipment of similar types and application
  • Equipment Operator 1 Certification
  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • College Degree

Work Environment:
This job may operate in remote locations, void of sanitary facilities, in extreme weather conditions both hot and cold and precipitation, during light of day, during the night and possibly in flooded areas.

  • Height for climbing – 6’ (Required to climb a ladder, stairs, or tree for up to 6’.)

  • Maximum weight carried while climbing – 30lbs (Required to carry up to 30 lbs while climbing ladder, stairs, or tree.)
  • Crawl height – 2’ (Required to be able to crawl under a 2’ crawl space.)
  • Small space/hole – 2.5’ wide (Required to be able to fit through a 2.5’ wide crawl space.)
  • Max weight single hand – 30lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 30 lbs with a single hand.)
  • Max weight both hands – 60lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 60 lbs with both hands.)
  • Max floor to waist lift – 75lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 75 lbs from the floor to the waist.)
  • Above shoulder lift – 40lbs (Required to be able to lift up to 40 lbs from the floor to above the shoulders)

Hours are subject to change based on business requirements and per company policy.
