The Project Manager should have the ability to do the following:
Merrick & Company (Merrick) is looking for a Project Manager (PM) to support the Life Sciences Business Unit (BU). Merrick’s Life Sciences BU manages a variety of complex projects including laboratory design, commissioning, operations and transition planning, and scientific consulting. The Life Sciences BU has multiple projects in progress at any time and requires a PM to support our team of Project Directors and technical teams. This position is open to remote work or in a Merrick office.
Duties
Responsibilities will include developing, managing, and updating project schedules; monitoring resources needs and forecasts on projects; support project reporting; support project budget maintenance. Responsibilities may also include project cost control and forecasting. The PM should have the ability to communicate and interact with the Project Director and the Project Team. This person must be able to work well independently and be self-motivated. In addition, this person should possess the ability to prioritize and organize multiple assignments. This role reports to the Life Sciences BU Director of Project Operations.
The Project Manager should have the ability to do the following:
- Supports the team of Project Directors across a variety of projects by providing general project management services.
- Develop detailed, resource loaded, project schedule using Primavera P6 or MS Project, and provide version control.
- Evaluate project schedule progress and performance and identify developing problem areas.
- Analyze critical path and constraints to determine effect of changes to schedule and recommend work-around.
- Implement change management processes for scope, schedule, and budget monitoring and tracking.
- Prepare schedule and resource forecasts.
- Utilize the cost data to allow for the tracking and control of budgets, commitments, accruals, expenditures, and contingency for the duration of the project.
- Identify project cost exposures and overrun risks in a timely manner to allow informed mitigation decisions and actions.
- Supports period-end revenue recognition duties under the direction of Project Directors.
- Coordinates with financial services to ensure invoicing is congruent with scope and budget.
- Supports the Project Director with various forms of regular, recurring project reporting, both for internal and external project needs.
- Meets expectations for attendance and punctuality.
- Become fluent with Merrick project management systems, processes, and tools.
- Serve as profit & loss accountable party on select projects.
Requirements – Education, Experience and Skills
- Client projects for this position require U.S. Citizenship.
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Five (5) to ten (10) years’ experience in the field of Project Management is required.
- Minimum ten (10) years of Engineering, Architectural, Commissioning or other field closely related to the types of projects to be managed.
- Experience in the Engineering/Procurement/Construction field is preferred.
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) requirements a plus.
- Must have computer proficiency in basic project control software applications, including Primavera (P6), Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
- Candidate must have strong problem solving, analysis and interpersonal skills as well as oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to travel 20% domestic and international (CONUS or OCONUS) is a possibility.

- Be able to work in an environment with open discussions and visitors without getting distracted.
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs.

- The pay range listed in this posting indicates the position’s eligibility to work in the state of Colorado and is consistent with our offices there; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
- Typical salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $135,000.00.
