Position Summary:

The Project Manager provides guidance and standards in the execution of projects. They create tangible goals, aligned with the overall organization's vision, and ensure all targets are met. The Project Manager ensures teams meet all scope requirements by completing jobs properly according to their contract or agreement with the client. In addition, they must provide concrete guidance on what everyone needs to do and the most efficient way to complete each step.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Increase transparency and visibility into Program Team project and resource capacity needs, to limit information silos and miscommunications.
• Improve project maturity, quality, accountability and democratization, keeping projects on-time.
• Closer alignment with the upper leadership, particularly in regards to organizational goals, in turn helping to direct and prioritize projects.
• Assist with accurately aligning the budget and resourcing allocation, to help satisfy executives and keep the overall project portfolio in check.
• Reduce project failure, overspending and client dissatisfaction through standardized templates and tools, and continual monitoring
• Monitor project closure reports to assess finished projects and determine what went well and what didn't.
• Compare 'before and after' of costs, timescale and scope.

• Help program managers choose the right methodology for their project.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration throughout the project teams and stakeholders, ensuring everyone's on the right page.
• Provide accurate and reliable information to allow senior management to make the best possible decisions when circumstances dramatically change
• Mentor and train program managers and coordinators to make sure they acquire the right skills, as well as recommend resources for growth.
• Design and follow up on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Including KPIs on the overall health and progress of individual projects, as well as overall department performance.
• Communicate clear information around budgets, forecasts, actuals, and margins across the whole portfolio of projects.
• Consolidate all information and documents correctly and build a project dashboard specifically for senior management.

• Prioritize capacity planning by running simulations, scenarios and what-if analyses.
• Monitor the overall risk of a project, such as compliance issues or negative exposure and build mitigation and prevention plans for future 'risky' projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in business or a related field
• 5-8 years of project management and related experience
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred
• Proven ability to solve problems creatively
• Strong familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices
• Experience seeing projects through the full life cycle
• Excellent analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal skills and extremely resourceful
• Proven ability to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline
• Travel between job sites on a daily basis may be required, reliable transportation, a valid California Driver’s License, and proof of liability and property damage insurance on the vehicle used are required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING ENVIRONMENT

Hours and days may vary depending on operational needs. Standard hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 am 5:00pm with occasional weekend needs. There are frequent after hours calls related to this position.
