We are looking for an experienced and self-motivated individual to fill the position of PSM Engineer within our Chemical Manufacturing Plant located in Gregory, Texas.
Essential Job Duties:
- Maintain protection of the environment and the health and safety of our employees, customers, and the communities in which we operate and/or transport our products, as our highest priority.
- Oversees the Process Safety Management, Risk Management Plan, and Responsible Care Programs (collectively referred to as “PSM” programs below) for the Ingleside Operations.
- Provides a monthly report and leads monthly review of PSM program status to Ingleside plant management.
- Develops, updates and tracks action items and assignments of PSM related tasks from MOC’s, and incidents in the Ingleside Database.
- Supervises contract resources retained for PSM services.
- Communicates employee concerns relating to PSM activities to appropriate supervision and management.
- Assures Ingleside site specific PSM procedures align with company and regulatory standards.
- Keeps Ingleside PSM procedures and guidelines current.
- Performs formal and informal audits of the PSM elements to ensure compliance to all applicable codes and standards.
- Coordinates with Corporate Risk Engineering and the Corporate Insurance Department on Ingleside activities and technical issues.
- Maintains continuing knowledge of company / government rules and regulations.
- Serves as Process Risk liaison to maintenance, operations, and engineering to successfully fulfill company risk mitigation expectations:
- Control System Failsafe (CSFI),
- Emergency Shutdown Control (ESS&CS)
- High Risk Taskforce Metrics (HRTM), and
- Mechanical Integrity (MI)
- Work with site Management to assure Process Safety and Risk Management requirements are in place, and are being tracked at all levels of the organization.
- Interacts with outside organizations such as CCPS and OSHA.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline with 3 or more years of experience.
- Requires in-depth knowledge of OSHA, RMP, Responsible Care, and company standards relating to Process Safety Management.
- Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
- High proficiency in Microsoft applications (such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to read, write and speak in English.
- Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to work weekends, holidays and respond to callouts on a non-routine basis.
- Physical requirements – Must be able to lift 40 lbs, climb ladders and stairs. Walking, bending, stooping is required. Must be able to wear personal protective equipment including the use of a respirator. Must be able to respond to visual and audible alarms.
Additional Desired Qualifications
- Experienced in LOPA and/or PHA facilitation techniques.
- Experience programming SQL databases.
- Good working knowledge of SAP.
