The duties and requirements of this job include:

• Education: M.D. completion of an accredited psychiatric residency.
• Certificate or Licensure: licensed to practice medicine in Alabama.
• Experience: As appropriate to meet education and licensure requirements.
• Provides administrative oversight of policies and practices of the Mental Health Center of North Central Alabama (MHCNCA) that are specifically and exclusively psychiatric in nature to ensure that they meet the generally accepted medical standards and the standards promulgated by the Alabama Department of Mental Health. (Examples of tasks: provides psychiatric services per standards; informs the Executive Director or the Associate Director of medical policies and practices which do not meet said standards; initiates recommended standards which govern medical practices and policies of the Board).
• Promote mission of MHC from clinical activities. (Examples of tasks: provides billable services; signs off on third party payer forms, such as insurance companies and Medicaid; reviews clinical work of other clinical providers to meet requirements of third party payers).
• Provides consultation to Center staff. (Examples of tasks: meets with the staff individually or in group for case staffing; provides in-service training through case management and directions; is on call to clinical staff for after hour emergency consultation with no requirement of face-to-face contact after working hours.)
• Responsible for the psychiatric aspects of Consumer psychiatric care as per schedule for on call for all the programs of the Mental Health Center. (Examples of tasks: arranges with the MHC Medical Director to ensure that the MHC is covered. Accessible 24 hours a day, 7 days a week).
• Participates in Quality Assurance. (Examples of tasks: reviews and approves clinical intakes; participates in peer review).
• Provides appropriate care for persons under the jurisdiction of the Probate Court for involuntary commitment. (Examples of tasks: refers such persons to 24-hour medically supervised service; oversees MHC staff involvement in evaluating such persons).
• Meet required productivity expectations, but never at the cost of quality of psychiatric services delivered. Quality of care takes precedent.
• Provides psychiatric assessment, treatment, crisis intervention and hopeful resolution to the Assertive Community Team.
• Provide direction and supervision for practical nursing staff.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $185,000.00 - $200,000.00 per year
