Position: Psychiatrist
Reports to: Executive Director
Hours: Varies based on the needs of the business
At-Will Contract:
You are free to terminate your Contract with the Upward Progression (UP), Inc. at any time, with or without reason, and Upward Progression (UP), Inc. has the right to terminate your Contract or the Contract of others at any time, with or without a reason. Termination should be provided in writing, with no less than ten business days notice. Although Upward Progression (UP), Inc. may choose to terminate Contract for cause, cause is not required. This is called “at- will” Contract.
Most contractors at Upward Progression (UP), Inc. are funded by a variety of grants, bids, governmental programs and endowment sources. Continued Contract is contingent upon continued receipt of those funds.
Description: Responsible for prescribing, directing, and/or administering psychotherapeutic treatments and/or medications. Assess, diagnose, and treat mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders of the mind. Provide clinical training to clinical staff and interns [if applicable]. Treat patients using psychological therapies. Maintain a positive and supportive attitude toward the agency and its overall success. Must have the ability to think globally, solve problems and have good decision-making skills, including critical thinking skills
Job Qualifications:
- Licensed Psychiatrist
- Ten years of progressively responsible clinical directing experience and staff/contractor supervision, including expertise transforming clinical staff into a highly functional team
- Proven experience understanding and demonstrated ability to generate revenues for clinical services
- Experience and confidence identifying and implementing evidence based practices
- Experience working in crisis setting with individuals and families
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Program development, evaluation, solid organizational skills, and public speaking
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in computer skills, especially using Outlook, Word, Excel and customized databases
- Ability to work in and adapt the culture of a multi-cultural, community based organization
- Commitment to maintain confidentiality
- Understanding of the Agency’s mission, culture, and the ability to maintain appropriate boundaries with staff and clients in all circumstances
- Contract contingent upon clear fingerprint and criminal history record
- Contract contingent upon successful completion of U.S. Department of Justice Form I-9
- Awareness of and sensitivity to the cultures represented in the State of Georgia
- Good inter-personal skills, ability to relate well with persons from variety of socioeconomic and cultural groups
- Ability to lift supplies up to 25 lbs. to waist height
- Reliable transportation, valid Georgia Driver’s License with a clear driving record and proof of valid automobile insurance
- Carry out other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Essential Functions:
- Supervise and oversee all aspects of the psychiatry department following the agency mission demonstrated by setting departmental goals and objectives.
- Work with other members of the management team to assure successful communication and coordination between all Upward Progression (UP), Inc. programs, and participate in strategic planning.
- Provide clinical training to clinical services Staff, Contractors, and Volunteers [As needed].
- Must be reliable and consistent with attendance and punctuality to work.
- Represent the Upward Progression (UP), Inc. in a professional manner.
- Understand and follow all policies and procedures of the Upward Progression (UP), Inc.
- Must have an attitude of friendliness and be able to communicate with all levels within the Upward Progression (UP), Inc.
- Maintain good working relationships with all Upward Progression (UP), Inc. Staff, Contractors, and Volunteers.
