Qualifications:

  • Degree/Education: Have a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or (Psy.D.) degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an APA accredited psychology program or a program acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force. Shall have completed an APA accredited internship/residency in professional psychology or an internship/residency acceptable to the Office of the Surgeon General, U.S. Air Force.
  • Certifications in addition to Basic Life Support (5.2.3): BLS is required.
  • Experience: Must have a minimum of five years’ experience as a clinical psychologist and required to meet clinical competency requirements specified in the Service-specific credentialing instructions
  • Board Certification: None
  • Licensure/Registration: Have and maintain a current license to practice psychology in any one of the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, or the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Computer Skill Competency: Each HCW shall demonstrate competency as required in the contract and as follows:

Government will provide computer equipment required to schedule, check in, document, order ancillary services, and maintain appropriate electronic medical information that support the hard copy medical record. The MTF will provide required training for these systems during the initial facility orientation. The health care workers will be required to use the computer systems that are standard for the support of health care delivery at the MTF.

MTF Training: Additional training requirements are as follows:

Participates in military specific training (e.g., training to perform Command Directed Evaluations, security clearances, Military Training Instructor clearances, use of the Air Force Guide to Managing Suicidal Behavior, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress) and others as directed by the mental health flight Commander or AF policy.

MTF Standards: Specific policies, procedures, and instructions/regulations for the place of performance are as follows:

PUBLICATIONS

  • Compliance with all publications, regulations and operating instructions provided by the Government is required when:
  • They pertain to the procedures for materials expediting herein and where the contractor is authorized by the performance work statement to accomplish the work specified in the publication, regulation or operating instructions.
  • The publications prescribe USAF policies, use of materials, procedures and processes applicable to the work requirements.
  • The contractor is required to acquire and work on the latest version of the publication.

HCW Health Requirements: The Contractor ☒ shall ☐ shall not provide documentation certifying health requirements such as immunizations, annual vaccinations, medical testing (i.e., tuberculosis, N95 particulate respirator duckbill mask fitting) and physical examination when required at the time of initial placement.

Occupational Health: The HCW ☒shall ☐shall not be required to obtain documentation of required physical testing or a report of a physical examination.

Tuberculosis Screening: The additional immunization/screening requirements for the risk of exposure to tuberculosis (TB) are as follows:

PPD 2-Step Process is required and will be paid for at no expense to the Government.

Competency-Based HCW Interviews: Prior to HCW placement, the Government

HCW Duties: The duties for the HCW are as follows:

  • Practice within the guidelines of their state licensing board, American Psychological Association Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct, and MTF privileges.
  • Conduct psychological evaluations utilizing information from clinical interviews, psychological testing, and collateral sources, as appropriate.
  • Accurately diagnoses all major psychiatric disorders in accordance with the most current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders of the American Psychiatric Association.
  • Promptly determines the appropriate treatment setting and provides a variety of effective treatment modalities in an outpatient setting, which include psychopharmacology and the traditional interactive psychotherapies

  • Routinely is effective in facilitating inpatient admissions to psychiatric inpatient facilities
  • Almost always handles and safeguards classified or sensitive information in an appropriate manner to preclude
  • Typically responds to consultation requests in accordance with the time indicated by the referring medical provider
  • Thoroughly conducts assessments and offers appropriate guidance for other providers in the treatment of patients who present with secondary psychiatric complaints.
  • Almost always serves effectively as a member of the mental health flight multidisciplinary treatment team.
  • Almost always provides timely and accurate psychiatric consultation.to commanders in all acute circumstances
  • Routinely evaluates members on TDRL status and renders appropriate recommendations and dispositions in accordance with pertinent AFIs.
  • Often prepares thorough and accurate psychiatric assessments for Medical Evaluation Boards in accordance with the guidance provided by all pertinent Air Force Instructions (AFIs).
  • Normally renders fitness/suitability for duty determinations, and ensures that all members referred for security clearances, flying operations, personnel reliability program, and special assignments are capable of such responsibilities from a mental health perspective
  • Usually conducts a professional training activity for mental health flight staff, interns, students and residents in accordance with established guidelines and time frames.
  • Consistently engages in program development and outcome research to improve clinic services to beneficiaries.
