DESCRIPTION: Supervises, coordinates, and schedules the SHINE Program. (Start Helping Impacted Neighborhoods Everywhere) program for the District 2, Highway Division. The Crew Chief collaborates with the Oklahoma County community service programs, District and SHINE Leadership to follow department regulations and safety with prescribed procedures and security regulations governing community service workers. This is a safety-sensitive position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Must be able to be present at the designated work site a minimum of 40 hours per work week, as established by the Superintendent. Emergencies require 24-hour on call. Follows established Oklahoma County Community service and community sentencing policies and procedures and established protocols pertaining to management of community service workers regulations. Supervise daily activity of workers during their daily assigned assignments. This can include tree removal, graffiti removal, traffic control, general landscaping with trash removal as well as various other projects as directed. Serves as communications liaison for Superintendent and the Oklahoma County community service and community sentencing programs. Inspects work quality and notes special problems and/or concerns and reports to SHINE leadership. Maintains and completes daily, weekly, and monthly reports and documents all activities performed by workers. All other duties and assignments, as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: The Crew Chief supervises work crew from the Oklahoma County community services and community sentencing programs for Road and Shop maintenance. This position also performs supervisory functions in accordance with rules and regulations, organizational policies, as well as applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, directing the work of the work crew, addressing complaints and concerns, along with problem resolution.

EXPERIENCE: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Having a background in law enforcement/detention is highly desired, but not required. Ability to be on call twenty-four hours a day. Ability to maintain records and prepare reports. Ability to supervise, establishes, and maintains cooperative relationships with employees and workers supervised. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction and undertake responsibilities with initiative and judgment.

EDUCATION: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) One year certificate from technical school; or 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred.
