Join our team as a Crew Leader in our Street Division of Public Works. This position has the opportunity to make a significant impact on the City of Salisbury by the management of construction related projects that impact the citizens of Salisbury. The City relies on the hard work of our employees to provide essential services such as performing street, driveway, sidewalk and curb installation as well as other maintenance related projects. An ideal candidate would be:

 An established leader in the public works field with considerable knowledge of the modern principles, practices, and techniques of concrete, asphalt, and or stormwater maintenance repairs.

 Experienced in leading coworkers and have the ability to communicate, motivate, mentor, train, and build a positive team atmosphere.

 The ability to operate light to heavy equipment including loaders, dump trucks, excavators, skid steers, and other related equipment.

 Experience in planning, budgeting, and executing construction related projects.

 Experience in calculating quantities needed in ordering materials that meet codes and specifications.

 Interested or experienced in coordinating and assigning staff to work crews; inspects work; coaches, counsels, and provides input on staff performance; and participates in developing schedules.

Minimum Requirements:

 High School diploma or GED supplemented by some college or technical school training and extensive experience including maintenance and construction of public works infrastructure, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 Must have the ability to obtain a valid North Carolina Class A Commercial Driver’s License within the time specified by the City.

 Ability to work after normal business hours in on-call and emergency situations.

Closing Date: June 30, 2023

Hiring Range: $20.69 - $29.59 (Depending on Experience)

$2,000.00 sign-on bonus to be paid as a lump sum after completion of 90 days.
