Purchasing and Logistics Manager
Job Summary
The Purchasing and Logistics Manager directs and coordinates purchasing, warehousing, distribution, or financial forecasting services or activities to limit costs and improve accuracy. Examine existing procedures or opportunities for streamlining activities to meet product distribution needs. Direct the movement, storage, or processing of inventory.
Essential Functions:
- Manage activities related to strategic or tactical purchasing, product requirements planning, controlling inventory, warehousing, shipping, and receiving
- Define performance metrics for measurement, comparison, or evaluation of procurement and logistics factors, such as product cost or quality
- Implement new or improved procurement and logistics processes to improve efficiency and performance and create supply plans that ensure the availability of materials or products
- Develop procedures for coordinating supply chain management with other functional areas, such as Sales, Marketing, and Finance
- Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers and vendors
- Analyze information about supplier performance or procurement program success
- Build credibility throughout the organization as a purchasing and logistics expert by building effective and collaborative relationships with other leaders.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year, accredited college or university in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or similar field of study
- 5+ years of experience in purchasing and logistics
- Experience managing vendors, vendor agreements, and measuring vendor performance
- Demonstrable experience building out successful purchasing and logistics strategies and processes
- Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams throughout a business, including Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Operations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- APICS Certification
Compensation & Benefits:
This full-time role offers a base salary of $110,000 - 130,000 depending on experience. This role is eligible for benefits including fully covered medical insurance, 401k, PTO, and more.
