Design Group is recruiting for a Purchasing Manager. This is a remote position.
WHAT WILL I DO IN THIS ROLE?
In this role, you will be responsible for Indirect Spend/MRO procurement at the best total value for DG. You will leverage the Company’s buying power, using legal and ethical means, to properly balance quality, delivery, service and price to support internal and external customers. You will maximize value received for dollars spent.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Generally work from a strategic perspective, while ensuring that all tactical Purchasing requirements are fulfilled.
- Select, train, and develop suppliers; work to build solid, results oriented, constructive supplier relationships.
- Negotiate and enforce negotiated pricing and commercial terms with all associated suppliers.
- Work intensively to manage commodities, so to identify potential changes that reduce cost, improve quality, reduce lead time, and improve reliability; develop into a “Category Manager”
- Actively work to enable effective inventory management (including Excess & Obsolete) while enhancing service level to internal and external customers.
- Develop/maintain/enforce intra and inter department policies, processes, procedures.
- Collaborate cross functionally to develop a one DG team environment to continually improve combined productivity. Work intensively to achieve departmental & Company goals & objectives.
- Direct daily interaction, order placement & expediting with supplier base.
- Lead resolution of any disputes, both internal & with suppliers.
- Lead business meetings & price negotiations with suppliers, as required.
- Lead, coach & mentor direct reports, as required
- All other duties as assigned.
WHAT SKILLS DO I NEED?
- Broad and thorough knowledge of Purchasing/Sourcing theory, principles and practices.
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Business or Supply Chain Management.
- 5 – 7 years of Purchasing experience with exposure to a manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience with Indirect Spend (MRO).
- Intermediate proficiency with MS Word, Excel and MS Outlook desired.
- Experience with ERP systems required, JD Edwards & Mapics preferred.
- Contract negotiation experience is a plus.
- Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) a definite plus.

Minimum pay rate: $80,000 annually
Maximum pay rate: $100,000 annually
