Quality Manager
Does collaborating with a team to deliver the workforce of the future sound exciting? We are looking for a high performing Quality Manager to lead our Salt Lake City Quality team. The Quality Manager will be responsible for promoting a quality culture while demonstrating result-driven leadership to the Quality Management System for the Salt Lake City location of Sarcos. Key areas of accountability include planning, budgeting, resource management, scheduling, training, best practices, quality, and continued improvement of responsible areas. This position will act as the management representative at the Salt Lake City location for ISO9001. This leader will be expected to collaborate across the organization to assure quality in Sarcos products and to develop efficient methods for implementing quality across all aspects of product lifecycles.
Role/Responsibilities:
- Manages the processes and personnel directly associated with quality such as incoming inspection, non-conforming materials and components, deviations, QMS auditing, product acceptance, CAPA, and continuous improvement.
- Obtains, analyzes, and coordinates corrective action on significant deviations from quality standards. Effectively communicate relevant information to the management team.
- Participates in the review of design, manufacturing, purchasing, and test documentation & procedures to ensure that the customers' quality requirements are met, both for current and new customers.
- Strives for continuous improvement in overall defect-reduction, monitors defect-reduction procedure effectiveness, and implements appropriate adjustments.
- Works with Quality Engineers and Production team members to troubleshoot issues on the production floor.
- Works with Supplier Quality Engineers to ensure suppliers are qualified and monitored and that quality problems are investigated, trends are tracked, and issues are resolved so that Sarcos is supplied with quality parts.
- Leads in implementing ISO9001 quality system and completes internal audits needed to maintain certification and continuous improvement.
- Will lead the Salt Lake City location through the implementation of Quality processes and practices to be compliant with ISO9001, working closely with Quality Director to align processes and procedures across Sarcos.
- Establishes and tracks departmental goals and objectives that support providing world-class quality and technical services.
- Supports the Quality Director in preparing the annual department budget.
- Plans and coordinates work of direct reports. Performs periodic evaluations of direct reports while providing training, support, mentoring and guidance that allows direct reports to develop skills and their careers and maintains compliance with company goals and QMS requirements.
- Hires and terminates or makes recommendations to hire or terminate subordinates as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Competencies
- Familiarity with quality standards and processes, particularly ISO 9001 or ISO 13485.
- Communication skills to convey information in reports, meetings and status reports
- Knowledge of the product to perform accurate quality control
- Sufficient technical knowledge to understand how to apply quality practices to highly technical products
- Attention to detail
- Analysis, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills to review systems, find flaws and pose solutions to those flaws
- Ability to handle high-stress environments
- Ability to operate under deadlines while still meeting standards
- Ability to build and lead a high-functioning team of direct reports
- Strong interpersonal skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent preferred with 5 or more years' experience working as a Quality Manager who understands and adheres to a professional standard.
- This position will be responsible for supervising over the Quality Department employees located in Salt Lake City and will report into the Quality Director located in Pittsburgh, PA.
- Experience implementing an ISO 9001 quality system is preferred
- Three or more years’ experience leading teams of direct reports in a manufacturing environment
- Must be highly organized and able to multi-task.
- Proficiency in basic computer skills and with Office Suite products.
- Knowledge of CLM and ERP software a plus
Work Environment and Physical Demands:
- Work is performed Monday through Friday with occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
- Safety awareness is always essential.
- Must be able to stand and sit for extended times.
- Position is located onsite in Salt Lake City.
- Expected travel: 15-20%
