The Talladega Regional Center provides a continuum of services to individuals from infancy through adulthood. The Receptionist /Clerk serves is an integral part of the Talladega Regional Center team as the welcoming face for all those who visit or contact the Center. This role provides clerical support to various programs/services by demonstrating professionalism, confidentiality, time management, and problem-solving skills. The Receptionist/Clerk is responsible for routing incoming calls, messages, and guests. A key element of this role includes assisting with the daily operations of the Transportation Program as an essential service for our community.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

· Must have strong communication skills, the ability to understand and follow instructions, and have excellent organizational skills

· Must demonstrate the ability to take initiative, anticipate problems, handle frequent interruptions, propose solutions, and follow through with the goals of the department

· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word and Excel), Google G-Suite including Calendar, Sheets, Docs and Drive.

· Must be professional (conduct and dress), self-motivated, have the ability to exercise sound judgement and follow-through with tasks

· Must be able to deal pleasantly and courteously with consumers, staff, visitors, etc. in a professional manner

· Must be able to deal positively with frequent interruptions

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Experience working with individuals who are blind, low vision, deaf, hard of hearing or deafblind

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

· Answer incoming calls, relay messages to appropriate staff, greet consumers and visitors in a friendly manner and schedule appointments as needed

· Achieve a sign language proficiency level of SURVIVAL within the first twelve (12) months, and INTERMEDIATEwithin the first thirty-six (36) months of employment

· Monitor security cameras to assure appropriate access for visitors and consumers, and maintain a log of all visitors

· Receive transportation requests, log them onto the calendar, assign drivers and vehicles, confirm with consumers and drivers and coordinate all aspects of transportation trips

· Provide support to the TRC Transportation Program by processing ticket sales, receipts, deposits, invoices, filing records, and scheduling appointments for consumers.

· Compile necessary documents to process travel reimbursements and payroll related to the Transportation Program in a timely manner.

· Collaborate with the AIDB Transportation Department to ensure vehicles assigned to the Talladega Regional Center are routinely cleaned, stocked, serviced and have current insurance information in each vehicle.

· Enter consumer information into the database as needed for consumer demographics.

· Assist in planning and participate in regional center activities, i.e., White Cane Day, Deaf Awareness, educational workshops, social/community events, and/or statewide programs.

· Participate in training and workshops as required

· Work cooperatively as a team member to best serve consumers

· Follow all policies, rules and regulations of AIDB

· Other duties as assigned by the Regional Director.

· Upon offer of employment, the applicant must submit to a fingerprint background check at an agency designated and paid by AIDB."

SALARY: $15.50- $18.04 per hour Scale S5 Rank 31

Direct deposit is required.

260 Days

This is a non-exempt position, and is subject to overtime and/or compensatory time provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
