With an organizational vision of advancing and practicing racial equity, RiseBoro Community Partnership is currently seeking a Racial Equity Manager to oversee the planning, implementation, and performance measurement of RiseBoros Racial Equity Action Plan. This position includes short- and long- term projects that identify and address racial disparities, with a strong focus on inequities that imbed race equity principles that foster values in the organizations policies, programs and practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for working with all RiseBoro Divisions and Infrastructure to develop plans and processes related to racial equity to ensure alignment for maximum results. The Manager will partner closely with leaders across the organization to ensure progress towards our vision of being a race forward organization that reflects and elevates the voices of the communities we serve, and embraces mutual accountability, analytical thinking and commitment to shared outcomes. The Manager also works to create opportunities for staff training and development by making tools and resources available that support the organization in institutionalizing RE principles and values. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with the VP of Community Affairs to provide overall direction and management of the RE Action Plan in order to identify goals, outcomes and strategies that prioritize the use of racial equity frameworks to advance and support racial equity within RiseBoro and with RiseBoro partners;
  • Work with General Counsel and VP of Human Resources (HR) to establish a code of conduct and ethics that centers racially equitable practices. Include the dissemination of this code in mandated education and training. As well as, develop processes to pursue conflict healing and transformation reconciliation to deescalate matters that can lead to disciplinary actions;
  • Collaborate with the VP of HR and the RiseBoro Racial Equity Workgroup (REWG) to develop and implement plans that facilitate the ongoing training and coaching of staff, embed RE values in the culture of the organization.
  • Work with each Division to develop Divisional R/E Action Plans;
  • Enable and encourage staff to routinely conduct racial impact analyses in their work using a racial equity framework and common language and develop strategies that will address areas of disparities;
  • Support Development, Program and Contract Management staff in applying an equity lens when designing, implementing and evaluating programs to achieve fair and equitable outcomes;
  • Lead and/or resource various affinity and RE work group to create formal and informal channels to identify challenges and develop appropriate solutions to address and reduce racial disparities;
  • Lead independent research and analysis of issues and topics pertinent to the project and makes recommendations for action when appropriate; track and summarize current industry practices, trends and issues impacting community development and affordable housing, as relevant;
  • Provide day-to-day management of the RE consultants; partnering to align the organizations culture, policies and practices with RE values;
  • Work directly with the Infrastructure Finance team to ensure contract goals include partnerships with external vendors, particularly local vendors, minority or women of color led businesses (MWBEs),and/or vendors that center race equity;
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff regarding progress of the RE strategy. Prepare and presents key RE decisions, status updates and strategic advice to senior leaders and other internal audiences;
  • Collect ongoing input from the organization to identify relevant tools and resources to support RiseBoro staff as they advance racial equity work in their divisions;
  • Construct an annual RE plan and produce ongoing reporting; monthly, quarterly, to present to the Board of Directors and Senior Leaders team;
  • Manage RE budget allocation.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in areas of community development, nonprofit management, or a related field including the design and implementation of new programs, initiatives or strategies, data analysis, secondary research and communicating and presenting program and policy information;
  • Knowledge of Racial justice, social equity, community development principles, racial and cultural differences; an understanding of systemic and institutional racial bias; sensitivity to issues and concerns of communities of color and other diverse groups; Critical issues driving opportunity gaps, poverty and inequality in communities across the country and the corresponding approaches adopted at the local, regional and national level to address these issues;
  • Ability to think and act strategically in working collaboratively within and across organizations, while focusing and executing tactically to ensure successful and timely outcomes;
  • Experience facilitating meetings and educational forums, including staff trainings, workshops and presentations
  • Respect and appreciation for confidentiality;
  • Deep passion for creating an inclusive and equitable work environment and world;
  • A commitment to RiseBoros mission and demonstrated interest in and knowledge of current racial justice issues.

EDUCATION

  • Bachelors Degree required in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Political Science or a related field and at least 2 years of experience in a nonprofit or related setting leading programs that build racial equity.
