Description
The Kentucky Horse Racing Commission (KHRC) is an independent agency of state government charged with regulating the conduct of horse racing and pari-mutuel wagering on horse racing and related activities within the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The KHRC is a leader in the welfare of horse and rider and the safety and integrity of horse racing.
We are looking for a Racing License Administrator to join our team of highly skilled professionals. As a Racing License Administrator you will license and process sll license applications for personnel at Kentucky Race Tracks.
Statewide travel will be required, (including some overnight travel) to live racing facilities during the course of the year. Some work on weekends and holidays is required. Will need to possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Work is typically performed on site at race tracks in an office setting in accordance with race track schedules, in various counties throughout the Commonwealth (Jefferson, Fayette, Boone, Simpson, Henderson, Christian, and Knox).

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Verify accuracy and completion of applications prior to processing.
- Receive license fees and file report of fees to racing commission office on a daily basis or as required.
- Check the racing program to ensure that all racing participants have been licensed prior to each race.
- Enter non-sufficient funds (NSF) checks, financial responsibility or other rulings issued by stewards into licensing system.
- Work with state stewards and other racing officials regarding questionable applicants.
- Scan and file licensing applications.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION: High school graduate.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: Must have four years of experience in business administration, public administration, law enforcement, security or equine industry.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree will substitute for the experience on a year- for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license prior to appointment in this classification. Must maintain a valid driver's license for length of employment in this classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains a valid driver's license.
Working Conditions
Work is typically performed on site at race tracks and in accordance with race track schedules. Incumbent will be exposed to dangers and hazards associated with being around horses.
Probationary Period
This job has an initial and promotional probationary period of 6 months, except as provided in KRS 18A.111.
