The Radiology Technician Aide is responsible for assisting the Radiology Department, Cat Scans and/or the technologist in imaging services.

Responsibilities:

A day in the life of a Radiology Technician Aid at Hackensack Meridian Health can be described as follows:
  • Schedules patients and provide procedure explanation in English.
  • Reads and understands patient's medical chart and/or physician's orders.
  • Prepares room for imaging study i.e. Patient immobilization, cassette selection, etc.
  • Assists with portable x-ray examinations in patients' rooms, operating suites, and emergency department.
  • Follows operational procedure to correctly identify patient's films with name and x-ray number, and accurately marks patient's films.
  • Develops exposed x-ray film by processing methods available.
  • Prepares radiopaque contrast media and assists physician in administering radiopaques mixtures to patient.
  • Maintains orderly x-ray room as directed by department policy.
  • Performs administrative duties related to scheduling appointments, patients' instruction, film filing, maintenance of records, reception of patients, and other administrative duties as required.
  • Responsible for scheduled shifts including holidays and weekends.
  • Overtime as needed to provide continual quality patients care.
  • Greets in/out patients when they arrive for their exam utilizing A.I.D.E.T. standards.
  • Adheres to the policies of Employee ID, Standards of Behavior, Attendance, and Punctuality.
  • Identifies the needs of the patient population served and modifies and delivers care that is specific to those needs (i.e., age, culture, language, hearing and/or visually impaired, etc. This process includes communicating with the patient, parent, and/or primary caregiver (s) at their level (developmental/age, educational, literacy, etc.).
  • Adheres to the standards identified in the Medical Center's Organizational Competencies.
Qualifications:
Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within three months of hire
Licenses and Certifications Preferred:
  • AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification.
