Job Summary:

This position provides support to patients and families throughout their stay. Staff is trained in both SFRA and OPFCC to provide support of PX initiatives. This position is flexible hours with coverage supporting the work of the department. The essential functions and competencies listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and ability required.

Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson
  • Serve as initial contact for Patient Services and the Surgical Reception Area, screening calls and family/visitor inquiries, answer questions, furnish information and resolve problems, when appropriate
  • Track patient information and provide efficient, accurate information to families about their loved ones progress; offer emotional support. Keeps accurate records of families waiting in the SFWA; knows how to reach families at all times
  • Facilitate and coordinate amenities/services that support and enhance positive patient experiences
  • Support the operations of the Office of Patient and Family Centered Care
  • Must be able to function with minimal direct supervision
  • High School Diploma or GED. Associate’s or undergraduate degree desirable, but customer service experience an acceptable alternative
  • Must have 2-3 years’ experience in a customer service role
  • Must have experience with EMR (Epic) and MS Office

  • .Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to the general public under stressful circumstances. Demonstrates a caring, respectful attitude to people of different cultures, ages, abilities and genders
  • Good communications skills, particularly listening skills are essential; demonstrates the ability to recognize and support the needs of limited and non-English-speaking patients, and deaf and hard-of-hearing patients who may require assistance in communicating
  • Demonstrates the practices, appropriate departmental greetings, handoffs and closing statements (C-I-CARE).
