Recreation Assistant: 50+ Wellness

Hours: Mornings; occasional hours outside of program will be offered
Days Worked: Monday – Friday
Position Type: Part-Time (limited to no more than 129 hours monthly), Hourly, Non-
Exempt. (Health insurance is not available)
Salary: $12 per hour
Functions
Performs unskilled and skilled work to assist in providing recreation services at program sites.
Examples of duties include but are not limited to: leading activities, supervising participants, planning outings, enforcing safety rules, supporting special events, developing groups and programs in consideration of the needs, abilities, and interests of the participants, researching new ideas for programs and activities taking into consideration participants’ suggestions, and initiating and planning the monthly calendar.
Work is performed under the general supervision of a full-time employee or senior part-time employee. Must be able to understand and follow instructions - both oral and written - to work productively in a team environment and to skillfully use tools and equipment related to assignments, according to instructions.
Promotes customer and visitor compliance with all rules, regulations, and safety practices; reports all accidents/injuries and ensures that victims receive proper care.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Requires high school graduation plus education and/or experience in providing recreation programs for adult or senior customers.
Must possess or be able to obtain certifications in American Red Cross CPR/First Aid/AED,
Bloodborne Pathogens and other certifications, as directed, within 6 months of hire.
Finalists must successfully pass pre-employment screening processes, including drug screen, criminal background check, possession of a S.C. Driver’s License and clean driving record.
