Job Responsibilities:
Under general supervision, serves as a Refugee Mental Health Specialist to address mental health within the refugee community. The position will focus on the physical and emotional wellness as a foundation for successful resettlement and integration of newly arrived refugees within their first 5 years of eligibility.
The successful candidate will prioritize ORR-eligible individuals who have the most persistent, pressing, and/or underserved mental health needs. In addition, there will be a focus on capacity building within the communities, which includes overcoming stigmas associated with mental health care and create opportunities for social engagement to reduce isolation by collaborating with ethnic-based organizations and/or local resettlement agencies. There will additionally be a focus on client-centered, trauma-informed, strength-based, and culturally and linguistically appropriate activities. In-state travel is required.
The incumbent will engage and/or collaborate with local health departments, local resettlement agencies, federally qualified health centers, community- and ethnic-based organizations to ensure that clients receive the necessary services afforded to them.
