REI Experiences is a fast paced, fun, and innovative team. Over the next 2 years we are working together toward doubling the number of participants we engage through inspiring outdoor experiences while also tightening REI’s connection in the local community. This job contributes to REI’s success by guiding field experiences for our customers and leading guide staff in the region or specified remote and seasonal location. Your core focus will be supporting the day-to-day operations in collaboration with Field Services management. Responsibilities will include:
Lead and facilitate Experiences programming- Administer programming and training for all guide staff
- Provide insight to Regional Program Coordinator and Guide Management on location staff needs
- Setup communication plan for the high season
- Assist with programmatic leadership and role modeling and providing feedback regarding performance expectations
- Plan and facilitate all necessary venue scouting & onsite training
Seasonal Remote Location specifics:
- Work with Supervisor, Field Operations and team to plan remote location operational needs and setup for the season
- Plan and manage gear, equipment and bulk food inventory
- Document and report any guide-related incidents involving customers or damage to the rental property or equipment

Here are the skills and experience levels we look for in teammates:
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years professional guiding experience
- Wilderness First Aid or Responder and CPR certification (Wilderness First Responder may be a job requirement in some locations. If required and candidate is hired without current certifications, candidate must complete within the first 3 months of hire.)
- Experience in at least one of these activities: Climbing, Kayaking, Stand-up Paddle-boarding, Hiking, Backpacking, Mountain Biking, Snowshoeing
- Valid in-state drivers’ license with an acceptable driving background and ability to obtain a medical examiner’s certificate which includes a physical and drug screen.
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Strong decision-making skills
- Attention to detail
Preferred Qualifications:
- Relevant certification or equivalent experience in technical outdoor skills (AMGA, ACA, etc.)
- Prior leadership, management, or supervisory experience
- Expertise in at least one of the remote locations we operate
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and software
As required by applicable Pay Transparency laws, REI provides a range of compensation for roles that may be hired in locations under these requirements. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include a wide array of factors, including: your specific skills and experience, geographic location or other relevant factors.
The pay for this role is: $20.25 - $25.30 per hour .
