- Implements procedures for behavior reduction with fidelity.
- Implements skill acquisition procedures for ABA services and supports with fidelity.
- Implements ABA service minutes in the Individual Education Plan (IEP) and documents delivery.
- Observes, records, and follows the behavior intervention plan (BIP) in the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP).
- Assists with Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NCI) when trained.
- Attends yearly NCI refresher training.
- Assists with behavioral assessments including but not limited to preference assessments, individual students skills assessment, and functional assessments.
- Prepares for, collects, and reports required data and service documentation and assists in graphing data.
- Becomes familiar with the teaching procedures used by the teacher, the teacher’s schedule of activities, the continuity of academic progression and the materials and equipment available.
- Works with individual students and sometimes small groups of students when determined appropriate by ABA Associate for ABA programming.
- Assists the teacher in strategies for reinforcing materials or skills based on an understanding of individual students, their needs, interests, and abilities.
- Facilitates independent work set up by teacher and transitions as indicated in the student’s IEP.
- Provides escort and assistance to students as necessary throughout a variety of school and community settings.
- Assists with supporting students during large group instructions.
- Assists teacher in maintaining work and study areas, equipment, materials and facilities.
- Operates teaching aides (e.g., smart boards, iPads, computers).
- Substitutes for ABA Associates when needed (must also be actively enrolled in BCBA/BCABA coursework).
- Alerts the teacher and ABA Associate to any problem or special information about an individual student, their programming, or related activities.
- Assists with the supervision of students during regular play/leisure periods.
- Participates in orientation, workshops, in-service training, parent conferences when appropriate, IEP conferences, and team meetings.
- Assists with self-care tasks such as lunch, snack, clean up, wash up, and toileting routines.
- Assists teacher in working with students receiving ABA Services who have challenging behaviors.
- Assists the teacher in maintaining an environment that is conducive to learning.
- Assists in preparing programming materials during the school day as directed by the ABA Associate.
- Assists in prompting students to reinforce previously taught materials.
- Complete 40 hours of training through an approved curriculum and pass competency examination needed to apply for registration issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board required.
- Sixty hours of college credit preferred. Experience working with children preferred.
- Registered Behavior Technician registration issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board; Substitute Certification or eligible for Substitute Certification through Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education preferred.

The primary responsibility of the Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is to provide Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services to enable the student to reach his/her fullest potential.
