Registered Nurse - Perioperative Fellowship - Main Operating Room Job at Baptist Health

Baptist Health Jacksonville, FL 32207

Baptist Health is offering a Perioperative Fellowship to experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) in our Operating Rooms at Baptist Health. This is a six-month program which will begin on February 20, 2023. For the first 6 months, the committee will be for full-time day shift hours (typically Monday through Friday from 7:00AM - 3:00PM). We are currently hiring for various locations within our system in Northeast, FLA.

This six-month course is designed to prepare Registered Nurses to function independently in the perioperative setting as operating room nurses. The program will provide basic knowledge and clinical skills using content that includes didactic presentations, AORN Modules, skills labs, and extensive clinical experience with a clinical coach. All aspects of perioperative nursing will be included as well as specific considerations for various types of surgical procedures and specialty services in the circulating role.

Attendance during the didactic portion of the program (first four weeks) is mandatory. Any time off requests will need to be coordinated with the nurse manager and nurse educator. There are several days during this program that would be difficult to make up and would be a detriment to your education should you not be present. During the last six weeks of the program, there will be an on-call requirement where you take buddy call with one of your clinical coaches.

As a Perioperative Fellow, you will:

  • Receive instruction from system educators with extensive perioperative nursing backgrounds
  • Be paired with intraoperative clinical coaches to help you develop your skills and knowledge
  • Learn to provide for patient needs as recognized through use of the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) and the mission statement
  • Learn how to include patients and significant others (SO)/families in developing an individualized plan of care
  • Learn coordination and preparation of assigned room/case, assessment of patient care needs and the anticipation of needs of the case

This Registered Nurse Perioperative Fellowship will be located at one of our Baptist Health locations in Northeast, FLA. If you are interested in this six month Fellowship opportunity, please apply here.
