DESCRIPTION OF WORK

You will provide nursing care and treatment services to consumers that reside at a State Mental Hospital. Performs ongoing assessments of patients and their care needs while utilizing nursing diagnosis and implementing their treatment plan. You will document the consumer's psychiatric component of nursing care in correlation to the ITP performance goals.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • The Department of Human Services provides excellent benefits, pay increases, paid leave and holidays, as well as opportunities for career advancement.
  • Hours of work during training: 1st shift, 7:00am-3:30pm
  • Work hours: 2nd shift 3:20pm - 11:20pm, Sunday through Saturday
  • 4 week pattern - Every other weekend; Holidays as assigned
  • Overtime: as needed.
  • May change based on operational needs.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

In compliance with Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) requirements, if you are selected for this position, you must show, at the time of hire, verification that you have received either a single-dose COVID-19 vaccination, or both doses of a two-dose COVID-19 vaccination, unless you are exempt from receiving a COVID-19 vaccination due to an ADA or religious accommodation. If you fail or refuse to show the required verification at the time of hire, and you have not received an exemption from the CMS vaccination requirements, your employment will be terminated.


QUALIFICATIONS

Necessary Special Requirements:
  • Possession of a current license to practice as a registered nurse issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing; or
  • Possession of a non-renewable temporary practice permit issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Condition of Employment:
  • Employees possessing non-renewable temporary practice permits must obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse within the one (1) year period defined by the Pennsylvania State Board of Nursing.
Other Requirements:
  • PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
  • If you are within 60 days of graduating from a school of nursing approved by the State Board of Nursing, you are eligible to apply for this job posting. At the time of appointment to a position, you must show proof of possession of a current, valid PA temporary practice permit or PA Registered Nurse license.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements:
  • A conditional offer of employment will require satisfactory completion of a medical examination and a drug screening test.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
    • Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
