Experienced lawyer reporting to the Director of Legal and Regulatory Compliance. Provides advice and counsel to all departments on legal and regulatory matters affecting the company’s operations and assists those departments to achieve and maintain compliance with applicable requirements. Reviews, drafts and supports the business units in the negotiation of contracts. Represents company in administrative and regulatory proceedings, as well as represents company interests before regulatory and governmental authorities.
Duties
- Reviews, drafts and supports the negotiation of business/vendor contracts, including licensing agreements, professional service agreements, NDAs, and technology contracts.
- Provides legal support on matters related to privacy and data security
- Provides legal research, counsel and guidance to all business units on matters affecting the company, including regulatory and compliance matters
- Represents company in administrative and regulatory proceedings, regulatory inquiries, filing reviews and other government/regulatory matters
- Assists in the development of company policies, procedures and programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Provides training to company staff on regulatory and compliance matters, as needed
- Provides legal support on company business transactions
Qualifications
- Juris doctor from accredited law school
- Admitted and in good standing in a state bar; admission in Massachusetts or other New England states preferred
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an attorney; in house experience preferred
- Excellent writing and oral communication skills
- Excellent analytical, advocacy and interpersonal skills
- Experience in the insurance industry required; experience in property and casualty insurance preferred
- Experience working with insurance regulators preferred
- Requires attention to detail and a sound work ethic
