Relief A.I. Service Technician Job at Select Sires
Position Overview:
The Relief A.I. Service Technician is a full-time position supporting a team of area Professional A.I. Service Technicians. In this position, you will also be gaining exposure to multiple facets of our organization during the training process, and most importantly estrous detection/A.I. Service Technician work, but also selling skills, customer service, data management, etc. This employee will develop the skills necessary to prepare them for a full-time Service Technician role and lay the foundation for multiple career opportunities in our company. Continuous learning in the area of bovine reproduction, profitable genetic development, business management, sales and interpretation of performance data will also be an important part of this role.
Job Responsibilities / Duties:
Active Involvement and learning in:
- Advanced A.I. Service Technician/Estrous Detection to traditional and modern dairies.
- Career path development consistent with employee's interests/business needs.
- Exposure to genetic development concepts.
- Introduction to sales, marketing, client services.
- Leads the process of ensuring accurate accounting for inventory in field inventories (semen, etc.).
Requirements / Qualifications:
An energetic, highly motivated individual that can quickly and effectively learn from a mentor in a working environment. Applicants possessing strong character traits and work-ethic, value working in a team setting and are passionate about bovine genetics and reproduction will rank high in our considerations. Candidates from a dairy or beef background would be ideal and must be completely comfortable working in dairy and beef production environments.
An Associates or Bachelors Degree preferably in a scientific discipline preferred. Already having experience working in a dairy/beef production environment involving the genetic and reproductive aspects of the operation would be required. Already possessing the skills necessary to artificially inseminate cows is preferred; but training will be available. A high degree of professionalism, accuracy and integrity at all times is a must. Position requires good organization, time flexibility at times and excellent oral and written communications. Possessing strong computer skills or the willingness to learn is important. This successful candidate must be able to live in central Minnesota and have a valid drivers license and be insurable to drive a company business vehicle. Position requires working in dairy operations where some medium lifting, climbing over gates and handling cattle will be experienced.
